Izzat a 1917 New Army Colt? I had one that sorta looked like that (if creaky 60-year memory serves). Hadda use half-moon clips to fire auto-rim .45's.

Unusual front sight was it a special addition with adjustable sights?

I know what RDX is but never saw a bullet tipped with an explosive such as it.
Is it a name they use for a special coating or hollow point bullet?
