Hello all! I have not grown for about 4 years so I have decided to get things rolling again, and keep a record of the grow!

I started with 5 Big Bud seeds and 3 freebie Red Shiva.

All of the seeds have germinated, and the plants that sprouted on the 20th are looking pretty healthy so far. That would make them 8 days old in the picture below.

I have them in 16 oz cups with a seedling soil mix from Wal-Mart and have been feeding them Thrive Alive B-1 Red, PPM 300 at 6.4 ph.

They started under 2-42 watt compact flouros and are now under 12/12 600w hps and the 2-42 watt flouros. (yes, i'm already flowering!)

All I want right now are the healthiest females of each strain for mothers.
Would anyone not agree with flowering them already? I figured It would get them to grow a bit quicker and show sex whenever they are ready... I want to get going with the clones ASAP!

Here are some pics, I will keep updating and would love for you all to watch them grow with me!

Red Shiva, huh? That sounds nice. Any idea on what genetics are in it? Looking good, btw.

The clones I take will go into a 6 plant Aeroponic system that uses a 32 gallon reservoir with 6-6" net pots in the lid, with the roots hanging down by 5 sprayer heads that will disperse the nutrient solution (Technaflora BC series) with airstones in the bottom to keep the solution rich in O2.

This system gave me AMAZING results last time, with colas on plants I sent directly into flowering growing bigger than Coke cans!

Not sure, I bought them from 420-seeds.com.

"Red Shiva is a well is a cross of known variety of marijuana Shiva with an exotic aroma and spicy flavour, and it packs an all round buzz. Plants are medium height and flower fairly quickly."

INDOOR / OUTDOOR Indoor/greenhouse
TYPE Indica/Sativa mix
PLANT HEIGHT Medium
FLOWERING TIME 7-8 Weeks
HARVEST mid Oct
YIELD 450g

The pic looks good. lol We'll see how it turns out! It's just nice to have a Sativa cross growing with the Big Bud since I like a more all around high, or Sativa head high. We'll see what happens!

Sure did =) I ran 2 of these setups a few years back and it's almost idiot proof, and IMO has a better growth rate than any other hydro system. It is also almost impossible to get root rot or screw up in any way unless the pump breaks and is not realized for a while.

Changing out the tote is easy with the hose hookup. Just hook up a hose, open the valve and it flushes out the whole thing.
Or, do like I do and sit it in the shower with the top off, and let the shower pour into it while it pumps it back out and down the drain with the valve open for a few hours. It's so easy!

Wish I could be successful with dro. I kill everything in dro systems:D.

I need some opinions..

Should I take clones ASAP, label them, then sex the mother plants to find out what clones are female? Or, Sex them all, throw away the males, then clone?

I forgot which I did last time, and what you all might have to say about which is easier/faster?

I don't know much about cloning. But I can tell you that in logic, if it is possible to get the clones this early (I'm not sure) But two things come to mind, how many clones are you taking? If you wait I would think you could get more, but again, I don't know much about cloning. On the other note, if you do it now, they will already have got a head start since you cut them prior. If you want more females, I would wait, if you are willing to go with less for a jump start, then you know what to do.

"I" like to get cuttings started....then flower the plants from seed. Allows for plenty of time to veg the cuts and take more, from them while the seed plants are flowering out. Save the origonal clones as "Donors"(Mothers). You'll be working with cuttings/clones al taken, rooted at about the same time, same size, ect.
Just makes things easier.."IMHO"

So this is the 4th day of flowering for these little guys (well, girls hopefully..) and they seem like they're doing pretty well. I'm feeding them about 5ml per gallon of Thrive Alive B-1 Red every other day. They're in seed starting soil and I didn't plan on keeping them longer than to take clones, but I think I want to flower these while i'm raising the clones..

Any suggestions on nutes for soil? This is sad, but I'm a whiz with hydro and have never actually done a mj soil grow... Any tips would be appreciated!

Day 7 of flowering the 8 plants total. How long do you think until i'll be able to tell?

I've been watering these every other day with distilled water and Thrive Alive B-1 Red. Anny suggestions on feeding for plants at this stage in soil? I'm new to the whole soil thing, so any comments would really help!

As soon as I get rid of the males, I will take clones from the healthiest of each strain and they will go in the aeroponic system starting with BC nutes.

Comments appreciated! :headbang2:

Looking good. Are you going to do the complete grow in 16 oz cups?

No these are just to take clones from, then going into the aeroponic system.

So today is day 13 of flowering for these moms, but only one is showing signs of sex... Is is just too early to be flowering them seeing how they are only 19 days out of the dirt?

Anyways, I've transplanted 4 of the healthiest into 8" pots with a 1:1 mix of some cheap potting soil with no ferts and perlite.

I've been feeding them a mix of BC boost, bloom, Thrive Alive Red and Awesome blossom ph'd at 5.8 with a ppm of 1000. Yup, sticking to hydro ferts since the clones from them are going into the aero system and I don't feel like spending the money on soil ferts.

good luck man, they look very healthy!

So one of the Big Bud show'd his Big Balls today =(

Hoping for at least 1 female from each strain!! Should know in a day or two...

I'm thinking these aren't showing their sex yet because of a possible light leak. I've never had a problem with light leaks in the past due to different conditions in a different location.

I have the entire room blocked off with light blocking shades that does let a little bit of light in (looks like, say, half moon's light) but the closet is usually closed.

Could this little bit of light make a difference? I mean, if it were in the woods, it would see strong moonlight and other light during the dark hours anyways, right?

maybe not a light leak, maybe arent ready to start showing sex,as 19 days old

I started 12/12 from seed on a grow i'm doing now. Males will usually always show themselves first(i'm figuring it's natures way of releasing that pollen early so seeds can fully develop). I have 2 from 12/12, day 33, 1 male(just showed a couple days ago) and 1 undetermined. Be patient, should be any day now;).
