hi, trying to start some ww. used the paper towel methed and when it cracked open I put it in a rockwool cube. It is in a dome over a heatpad at about 85f in the dark. been like that for a few days and i can see the plant just below the surface of the rockwool but it wont come up. should I put it in the light? would it help find its way up and out?

Any seed needs warmth to pop em ! then they need light to grow towards !cfls are a good way to start off with ! even nice bright sun is good as well ! good luck !

I think so. I have WW too and I put them in the light as soon as I saw green. Not too close to the light, tho--they are fragile babies.

ok, I will try to put them under my light, they are not really sprouted yet but i moved a little piece of the top layer of the rockwool and i could see the sprout inside there. I have germinated many like this and they always sprout in the dark and I let them get 1/4 inch or so then move them to the light. I ordered a 10 pack of fem ww and only had one so far sprout up. arggg!

Did the exact thing that Keith did but I used "Europonic Rockwool Conditioner"
Exactly as the directions said 3 oz.'s to a gal of distilled water, soked the cubes for 24 Hrs. put my germed beans in under a dome rh is 75 temp. is 75,
Lights 18/6 floro's 1 ft away. Heat pad on as well
2 days and nothing more has happened am I getting impatient or does it take awhile? Doing WW, G13 S Skunk, fem. G13 NL X Skunk, Fem. 16 beans and getting nervous!! Never grew these strains before, HEEEELLLPPP Please!

Turn off the heat pad, make sure your lights are close to the plants without giving off heat to the plant/dirt.

Followed the advise and by god we have babies lost one WW. Keith not trying to HJ your post but we could not have had a more exact problem.
How long before you guys or gal's drop the light to inches? Mine is 12" at persent, have sprouts 2 / 3 in. tall at this time looking pretty spindally right now. 18/6 or 24/7 ???
Thanks To All

It's just a weed, guys, if the seeds are good then they grow. IMO germination probs are usually due to bad seeds, either immature or too old. I had hundreds of seeds from one crop that were useless - although they looked ok they were immature. And some Dutch seed that I had to replace - too old I am sure. Seed that I produce myself usually has cotlydons (seed leaves - sp?) in three-four days, tops. Some I just put in sprouted after 2 days. It's a weed, it's not rocket science. I reckon more seed is killed with kindness than any other cause!

ok, I'm giving up on the ww! must be no good. they were white label and I ordered them last year. I put in a couple of new ak47, and one fem purple power, and 4 "australlian blue" and all sprouted. just within 2 or 3 days using the paper towel until they cracked, then into the rockwool cube. NEW QUESTION, should i keep them in the seed starter dome (for humidity) or pop the top and let them grow? (light on either way of course)

Yeah. Let em out of jail! Give light, moisture, a little TLC... yippee!
