how do you prepare your soil during winter so its ready to go when april comes around?

what materials/nutes/additives do you mix in, and in what amounts? never grown outdoor b4 so this spring i will try outdoor both in huge pots and in the ground.

thanks!

Hey green I myself compost in five gallon buckets and use veg and fruit waste. Also manure and worm castings go in the mix. Just do the basics, find your spot dig up the old soil(I recommend buying top soil)and lay down manure and lime.Cover with top soil and cover this with a tarp or something. Once a week water soil and turn it over and recover. By the time your weather is ready so should your soil. I also like putting banana peels in the mix and you could add some nutes if you want maybe the little pellet kind. Main thing is to turn the soil, add water and have patience.

should i try to rent a tiller or some machine to turn the soil after I add all that stuff? the soil is really dense, lots of clay-def not able to turn it by hand. and regular crops like tomatoes, corn, etc have been grown in the same area for years so the soil is probably drained of the nutrients that mj requires.
