Feb 17.
Layed down tarp in grow space. Measured for maximum pots size and drilled 4" intake and exhaust holes. Purched pots and soil.

Feb 18.
potted 15, 3.5gal pots with a Black gold. I used a recycled cleaned shredded plastic instead of rock for drainage. Placed all pots in their prospective spots.

Feb 19.
Watered like hell with distilled. Saturated the soil.

Feb 20 - Feb 23.
Kept the door closed and allowed to chill.

Feb 24.
Hung my 1000 Mh 22" from the top of the pots. Planted each of my seeds 3/4" into soil, covered lightly. Placed a clear 16oz plastic cup over each. Lightly sprayed a medium mist on the soil around each of the cups,

Feb 25.
Watered a heavy slightly saturing mist around each cup.

Feb 26.
Added a 1/4" deep layed of coffee grounds around each cup and lightly misted.

Feb 27.
Begining to add 1 cup of hand crushed washed dried egg shells to each plant as they become availble. ( I can only eat so many eggs.) Put 1 cheap multi vitamin in the soil on the outside of the cup 2 inches down.
Med spray of water.

Feb 28.
Just observed. Obviously some moisture build up on the insides of cups. All good all smells good. Light cycle is 18/6. Going to be all organic. Real stonded and really pleased.

How big is your grow area? how many square feet? How long do you plan to veg? I ask because it's gonna get pretty crowded in there. It won't be so bad once you get rid of the males though. Are these bagseed or a known strain? I'm just curious, good luck!

The seeds are ones I have picked out of stuff I have enjoyed over the last few years. The area is 4.5' wide, 3.5' depth and 10' tall. 3 months of vegetation. I know it's a stretch but I am hoping for 75 or 80% female to male ratio. I am working hard to make sure the conditions are right for seeds to go female. NO STRESS. I am seriously thinking of trying autos sometime in the not so distance future.

A couple of things--

It is generally a better idea to start with small cups when germing seeds and then transplant to a larger container---do you have any coming up yet?

I wouldn't be putting any kind of anything like egg shells, coffee grounds or multi-vitamins in with seedlings that have not sprouted. They actually do not need any added "nutrients" for 3-4 weeks.

If you end up with 11-12 females (well, even if you end up with 7-8) you are not going to have nearly enough room to veg these plants for 3 months. If you plan on vegging 3 months, you are probably only going to be able to get 3-4 plants in your space. There is no way that you can veg for that long and flower 7-12 in a room that small.

Since these are bagseed, keep a real good eye out for hermies.

What is your lighting?

Hey Sinister-- Looking forward to watching where this goes... Do you have an HPS to switch to for flowering or are you going to take them all the way with your mh? You said this is your first grow, that's wonderful, but I have a feeling you have some gardening expericence? Good luck to you

I am using a 1000 watt Mh currently and plan to switch over to my Hps bulb as soon as I go to bud. The eggshells and coffee grounds will hopefully detour a few unwanted infestations until they break down enough to become useful to the plant. Coffee grounds for N and eggshell for Ph. The multivitamin is for micronutrients and hopefully I have placed it far enough from course of the tap root that it won't be in range of the soil that feeds the plant until well into vegetation. I plan on being very vigilant in seeking and removing males and hemes. I won't lie most of knowledge I have picked up here on this site. Most of my previous experience is with veggies and house plants. My father was a super grower in the 70's and 80's, until he found god or something like that. I remember helping with the yearly outdoor crop; and indoor rooms during the winter. He has been kind enough to part with as much of his knowledge as he can recall.
I now have 6 small sprouts.

Oh, and please if my manner seems snobby or rude, I want you to know I'm not. I just have a very dry sense of humor and am kind of a book nerd slash gardener at heart. PLEASE give criticism and guidance; it won't fall on deaf ears.
THANK YOU for all the great knowledge and suggestions.
More pics and log info tonight.

So, I have questions about a few things. Why Can't I grow 15 plants in this area? I know they can be bushy little plants but what about trimming them to a manageable size? Has anyone tried to grow them horizontally with success? What about autos? Is my area too small for 15 autos? I would like to put a co op together locally, any advise?

alright dude i see something noone has said.

my first grow i sprouted in lil tray plugs then transplanted into 3gal pots. similar to where you are now. but the roots of the pot plant(alone, as there is no other plants in your dirt) wont be able to keep the soil oxygenated. my plants stalled BAD and almost died. i had to take them out and put them into 8" pots for almost a month before i could put them into the 3gal pots again.

i made a huge post about it in a thread in febuary i think about it if you search. the plant needs to be able to bring oxygen into the dirt and cant do that if they is waaaay more dirt than there is plant.

also you said you saturated with with water. do you do this every time or jsut the first time? i kind of do this the 2nd day(my dirt is always wet that i transplant into as it is from the garden) just to make it settle together. but watering like this all the time will cause sickness aswell.

In pots that big you wont be able to keep the plants small enough. i have 12 under my 1000w HPS and at 8wks veg they are huge. i topped once, then tied, then they doubled in size, then i fimmed them again, and now at wk 9 i am giving the final spiral pattered tie down before flower. as of now they are about 2-2.5 feet diameter circles and a bit less than 2 feet tall. you could not bush them as much as i did, but already at 2ft tall they may end up being 5ft.

Holy crap I think I may have underestimated the potential size!!! I guess I'll know more after I separate gender. Along the lines of O2. I only saturated my soil the first time, now I am watering very moderate. The soil I am using is very loose; the deed is done so I will just hope for the best. Although I have been thinking about an O2 system for plants in dirt. My design is only in the pre thought stage but I am seriously working on it.
Sorry no pics tonight.
By the way. I have recently discovered BALLEST GET VERY HOT. Just a FYI.
I am still looking for info about starting a co op. I have a few friends who grow and we have been working on a legal business plan. I need to understand how a co op runs.

March 2.
#2 #3 #4 Have sprouted.
I decided to remove the cups from each sproutling as they opened up. The reason for this is that water droplets formed on the leaves of #1 and focused the light in such a way that it left little burn spots.
I did a light mist of water on the soil.

March 3.
#5 #6 #7 sprouted today.
I did a light watering to help keep the soil moist, but not wet.
I also added a few red angle worms to each pot; on the advise of a gardening friend.

March 4.
#8 has sprouted.
I lowered my light and increased my air flow.

March 5.
Everyone looks happy and healthy.
I discovered my timer appears to not be working. I guess the light has been running 24/7 this whole time. I will be fixing that tonight. I want to run a 18/6
I 'm going to water later; just to keep everything moist not wet.
I am waiting on some mylar I ordered to come in. Should be any day now.

This is a update on my co op idea.
You know I am a Portlander at heart. I moved to the community I live in for economic reasons. People in Ptonw are chill, people here are greedy. First I tossed the idea around with my age old friends in Portland and I got nothing but positive responses. I explained my idea to a few people who I thought might be helpful and they have decided to exploit it to MAKE BIG MONEY. I guess their won't be any bartering locally... :(

March 6.
A good watering today.
I got my mylar and installed it today.

March 7.
Just watching them grow.

March 8.
Eight of the fifteen I planted sprouted and are doing well. I did notice one of them is very diffrent then the rest. I posted pics of the odd one. The leaves are smaller and very narrow. I am happy with the progress.

Light watering.

March 11.
After a lot of thought and networking I have acquired a few clones. 2 Jilly B, 4 sels star, 5 bingie or bangie (unsure of the spelling) and 1 ak-47. unfortunately I have to take it on faith that the strains are legit, but the guy I got them from seems like a stand up guy. The two Jilly B are already rooted, the rest I cut off of his plants myself and am rooting.

March 12.
Everyone seems to be happy and growing well. I did a moderate watering with distilled late in the night.

March 13.
Still looking good. No mold no bugs yet and everyone looks healthy. My bag seeds are growing quickly and I am pleased with all the progress.

Just watching them grow.

March 15.
Added a supplement called Oregonism to the soil. This is suppose to help aid in the growth of healthy bactiria and fungus.

March 16.
Watered with Buddha grow. About a quart of water per plant. The bottle say handcrafted in Eugene Or. I love Eugene, Good smoke, great people and killer beers.

March 17.
My plants are begining to show signs of sex. Most appear to be female, but I will continue to watch carfully. All but two of my clones look healthy. So far so good.

March 18.
Just watching them grow.

First.
I decided to rearrange my little room and plant some rooted clones. The reason for the rearrangement is so I can more easily access my bag seed plants. I want to be able to inspect them often for herme parts. In the process I also put some of the clones with good root structures in pots.

Second.
I also have decided to give a go at two upside down plants (on my porch).
So I took two cuttings.

March 19.
A little water for each.

March 21.
A little water for them.

March 22.
I watered the clones but the potted plants are ok. I still can't identify the sex of my bag seeds but I'm watching close. I am really seeing them start to grow with some speed.
