The deck is hot because its absorbing heat from the sun. Pick up you pot and check where it was and I'll bet the deck there is cool as a 
. Strofoam or such under the pot will make no difference. However if you have your pot in an area near a wall or in a corner your plant will pick up the radiated heat from objects around it. Full sun is fine but give the plant room to breath.
Im doing an auto indoor/outdoor grow here in VA and it is hot. I place the pot in the yard in the morning and put it under the grow lights at night. New process for me, week three, plant is loving the outdoor sun. 5 gal cloth pot. Dries out every third day but that will change as she grows.
