Good Morning Sir Hippie of Northville!Good night, Sir Wolf of Walla Walla.
I put a new one on it. But the impeller was good, no erosion. And the weld on shaft and impeller was intact. No slippage. Got me baffled. I’m going to try and new sensor just to be sure it’s not a bad reading. But the engine acts hot when it overheats. Pings a little and sluggish. So I think it’s actually overheating and not just a bad reading.Weird.
I ain’t no great mechanic, but it sure seems like it has to be related to the water pump, or thermostat.
What drives the pump?
I kinda assume it’s the timing belt/chain, considering you said you got your timing off a tooth.
Not sure if you replaced the water pump with a new one, or pulled the old one, inspected it, and reinstalled.
If the latter is the case, are you sure that the pulley that drives the pump isn’t slipping on the shaft?
