Orange Worms

Outdoors in Minnesota… what are these little orange worms and how do I avoid them next year? They are embedded inside many of my smaller buds, surrounded by a dark/rotten spot. I’ve just been cutting them and the bad part out.

Some type of Bud worm (caterpillars) BT products applied from mid veg all the way until 2 weeks before harvest sprayed on plants evry 2 weeks will kill them, no harm to the plants.
Needs to be done when the sun is just setting or rising, Hot sunlight will burn the plants when water mix applied.

Them things borrow into bud and reek havoc. Even with the bt ya may get a few. Nasty little bugs.

Throughout the grow also look under leaves for eggs, if found get rid of that leaf.

Come in may colors and sizes, depends on where you are located.

The ones I got outside were kinda tan. Looked the same and had the same effect on the buds. I carved 'em out and snipped off the brown stuff and used the buds for bubble hash. Only had a few infected due to the late season monsoons we had that year.

They look like caterpillars only mine are green. Its cold in MN maybe that turned them orange? Mine start out small with a stripe but get that size and turn a green color. BT is the only thing that works on Caterpillars that I have found. I get them about every 3 years it seems like. I check my plants 2 times a day early morning and just before dark they are more active and easier to pluck off. I feed mine to the cats. Or step on them

You couldn't see the ones that I had until you broke the bud open. I think they hatched and then burrowed in for a place to grow.

I looked it up Hemp borers are orange
