Hi, this is my second time around and trying to make it flawless, or as flawless as I can. I Shocked my last Mother and needless to say, I had to trow in the towel in her :( Anyway, for the moment I have my seeds sitting in between a couple of damp (not sopping) paper towels. The paper towels are sitting in a tupperware bowl with plastic over the top to hold in moisture. I have the tupperware bowl on top of a heating pad to keep the little guys warm. I guess my question is, am I heading in the right direction? I'm also using a 3% hydro peroxide/water solution in a spray bottle to keep damp too. Any comments/suggestions? any input would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks guys!!

It seems to me you are making this lots harder then it needs to be. I sow in dirt the way Mandalaseeds.com told me too. There are lots of ways to germ seeds, but keep it simple is my mantra.

I Keep It Simple and soak my seed(s) for 24-48hrs till the tap root pops, then I spoon it into a nursery pot filled with premoistened MGSeedling Starter soil (~1/8" under the soil), place 2 feet under my Metal halide lamp and typically 5 days later the seedlings will emerge.

:peace: n' good luck :aok:

I do it the way Mother Nature does.

Make hole, drop seed in hole, water hole, watch seed sprout from hole :aok:

Hey thanks for the input guys. I guess I'm just over thinking it :/ as for pcduck, right on brother, not a lot of you guys hangin around much, smoke on bud.

i use the paper towel method as well. its simple enough. i'd say your off to a nice start. wait for the taproot to emerge, then pop it in your medium.

I've been playing with 12yr old seeds 3/3 failed doin the paper towel method.... 2/3 popped just puttin them in soil... I'm gonna stick to soil, just my experience to share.

thanks for the info. That was pretty interesting. It pretty much said that everything I did was wrong haha. I swapped some stuff around and going in that direction. Hope it works out :)

Yeah I've heard that with old seeds, it's actually better to incubate them? but then again, I've never successfully germinated, so.

I have no idea Chuck, it was my first attempt at ever germing I was suprised they popped lol. Some people will do a pre soak in a cup of distilled or unchlorinated(sp) water for 24hrs then go right into dirt. I may do that with my new seeds I just got once I get my equip. I practice with bagseeds before the good genetics go up to the choping block lol.

But make sure the soil you use is weak(like MG seed starter soil or a seed starter mix) or inert of nutes or it might kill the seed. I've also had luck with just dropping the dry seed in a rapid rooter and add a little bit of water (they hold water like crazy).

A 24 hr soak and in then into the soil works great for me, but the paper towel method worked great to, ya really just gotta keep them warm, but not too warm, a constant temperature is important the top of the TV remote really does work great.

I got a pretty decent heating pad that on the medium settings it'll stay at a constant 90F.

Yup had 2/2 germ in those but they also became victim of mold I believe because I was watering too much, Those seeds were gifted to me and are appearently some sort of blueberry. So far I like these rapid rooters.

I think 90* is too hot. I put mine in a doubled and folded paper towels and place in zip-lock freezer bag(that I leave a little open), then I get my water to about 80-85degrees and wet the towels until nearly soaked but not swimming. Then I put them in a light tight casserole dish and place in cabinet over stove so that it holds the 80ish temp and totally dark. I get tap root sprout in about 2-3 days, then move them to my soil. :)
