Well if you really wanna do your part..IMO..kepp those cfl and use them in home..and buy HD lighting..JMO

KEEP M GREEN:D

hey homegrown 998 glad you did point that out...

I did has like over 13 cfls dropped and cracked... I did picked it up and throw it away.. and sprayed water and foliage nutes on these leaves of mine..

they are doing alright.. just cut some leaves that was attached and touched..

maybe thats why some of my tomatoes leaves turn yellow? but mj plants look greener.. hmm...?

what if you were flowering with cfls and they broke right over the plants like two days before harvest? You can't spray the buds, it would wipe out your whole grow... I don't know, they are probably going alittle overboard some of the comments people made were kinda funny they made it sound like if you dropped a cfl you need to call in one of those robots they use to defuse bombs to clean it up.

thanks for sharing, but wouldn't any kind of bulb be it cfl or hps be dangerous if it broke? its just common sense guys, be careful with them as you would with anything else posing a risk.

I never thought of any light bulbs being dangerous until i read that. In fact i don't think Ive ever thought about a light bulb.. if that makes sense. I don't know, i thought someone here might want to check it out

Guys, there is more mercury in a HPS than in CFLs, it's what gets the arc started, and even *more* in a MH! CFLs have a very small amount of mercury, I would be more worried about poisonous rare-earth chemicals in the phosphor. Just don't break the lamps!

Google it and you will see Leafminer is correct.

As of next month (I think) incandescent light bulbs will be illegal to be sold here in Australia; we have no choice but to go to CFL's which will piss the misses off to no end; she hates them.

thats a bit much smokingjoe - i mean i know its all about energy saving now but most cfls are far brighter and bluer than incandescents. I personally don't mind cfls as room lighting but know a LOT of people like your missus who doesn't like them and can;t stand them to be on. I don't agree with that law - so what, they gonna check EVERY household in Aus to check you not got any dull incandescents? pfft, stupid if you ask me.

I think if I remember correctly the US will be going to all cfl's too.

They are considered hazardous waste and are all made in China.

well MH and HPS do have poison gas too.... cfls is not alone.. read the waring direction.. it will hurt you if you drop a water on HPS or MH.. while its hot and running.. but cfls will not crack if you did spray water on it..

so?
