Hello

My first time, so help me out if you please.l
I got my 18 tiny ladies under fluorescent now and was wondering when can I start using my 400w hps to them?
I also have three 150w hps lights, can I use them already? Only 3-5 set of leaves out?
Space is not a problem. I think I gave them too much light earlier with that 400w hps... just checking.

It's really a matter of personal preference. Some like to use t5 floros for veg, then switch to hps for flower. Others use hps from seed to flower. But IMO, I think it's best to use t5's, metal halides or cfls during veg, then switch to hps for flowering. Do you have enough lumens with the floros? For veg you should have 3-5k lumens per square ft... For flower you need 5k per square ft. If you're low on lumens during veg, then I would throw in a 150w hps or however many lumens worth you need.

Good Luck

I only got hps lamps and them few fluoros.
Fluoros might acctually lack a bit lumens but I also heard that direct 400w hps might be too much for the little ones, is this true?
Now I changed them under two 150w hps approx 2 feet above the plants and did leave them fluoros on, on the side aswell.
What do you think?
Temp is 20celsius now but I´m hoping that it´ll rise abit to 22celsius now with them two 150w lamps going on.
No first set of 5 leaves yet.
No nutes yet, should i start already with nutes?

Cheers for advising me.

As long as your lights are not too hot on the plants or the room temp isn't too hot, then your plants will be fine. Just use your hand to test the tops of the plants... It should feel warm on your hand. I always shoot for a room temp of 75-80f. Put a thermometer somewhere around the tops of your plants to check the temp of the light on them. Just use your hand to test the temp on the tops of the plants... You can always make adjustments. You don't want to pull your lights back too far, or your plants will stretch and become lanky. Usually I don't start to use nutes until around the 2 week mark... (This is from seed). Sometimes you can start the nutes sooner. It all depends on the strain and how tolerant they are. Always start off light.

Sounds like you're all set

p.s. Set up a grow journal, so you can get all the help you need along the way.

OK, I started a grow journal as you advised me to do.
Have a look, it´s called: 1st grow ever, 18 NL girls.

Thank you for your help in advance.
