Try not to laugh at me to hard, I know this sounds crazy, but I live in the country and grow in my garage,so have to deal with pests on a regular basis! I also turn all my flower into rosin, so sprays and oils are a no go for me!
I remembered reading that most of the pests we deal with have horrible grips and are pretty easy to knock off of the plant!
Went on a two week vacation and had a buddy take care of my plants, when I came home spider mites were everywhere, so I tried this, and it's been my go to every since!
I probably wouldn't do it in flower though, lol,
This method is not a guaranteed pest-killer, but it’s an effective way to prevent infestations and keep your grow area clean without using harsh chemicals. It works by physically removing pests, larvae, and eggs before they can multiply.

Vacuum Method for Infestation Prevention in Cannabis Grows
This method is not a guaranteed pest-killer, but it’s an effective way to prevent infestations and keep your grow area clean without using harsh chemicals. It works by physically removing pests, larvae, and eggs before they can multiply.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Heavy Defoliation
- Remove as many leaves as possible, leaving only small, fresh growth.
- This reduces hiding spots for pests and increases airflow.
2. Daily Vacuuming (5-7 Days)
- Use a vacuum with a soft brush attachment or a hose with moderate suction. (I'm actually over aggressive here and use a shop vacuum and just suck up entire branches at a time)
- Gently vacuum every part of the plant, including:
- Stems
- Leaves
- Undersides of leaves
- Bud sites (if in flower, be careful not to damage trichomes)
- Vacuum the topsoil to remove eggs, larvae, and pests hiding in the medium.
3. Vacuum the Surrounding Area
- Clean everything near your grow space—walls, floors, tent, fans, and equipment.
- If using a tent, vacuum the walls and ceiling daily.
4. Repeat for 5-7 Days
- This ensures multiple generations of pests are removed before they can reproduce.
- If needed, continue for a full week for better results.
Why This Works
- Removes live pests & eggs before they multiply.
- Prevents infestations before they start.
- No chemicals or sprays needed.
- Safe for all stages of plant growth.
