I was taught to offer up my non shooting arm up as blocker if a knife attacker is going to reach you before getting a shot off. Arm up in front of face and chest in block mode. The knife hits the arm and can cut clean to bone, at same time falling back and shoot the snot out of the knife fighter. Like a boxer would use their weak arm during a fight.Thats true. The average person can close 21 feet and deliver a fatal stab in about 3 seconds. I saw this done on a video and on Myth Busters. The guys couldnt get their gun out in time. problem if gun is already out and pointed at you! One of the videos required them to draw and shuck a round in chamber....uh, I always have one in the tube.
The guy that beat knife guy was slick. As knife guy approaches, he fell backwards while drawing. Knife guy has to change directions giving the required seconds.

Jerry is one of the quickest and most accurate I've ever seen. He is famous. Love watching him shoot. He could kill 4 or 5 guys before they could reach their holster.I've seen a ton of the shooters videos, Jerry is a famous pro shooter to boot.

So yes Its size that matters LOLIts all about the distance.
Most coroners pics of knife death shows such defensive wounds. Im not offering a target, rather drop and draw.If you do repetitive drills over and over the same ie: at less than 15 feet drill putting arm up as to protect from a knife or any frontal close attack. Doing drills over and over will teach you to act instinctively if and when a time comes for you to use them.
That is true of most knife victims, but in this case, I am trained to draw and shoot. Most coroners pics of knife death shows such defensive wounds. Im not offering a target, rather drop and draw.
