bbfan buds is right here you know,i been told by everyone even man in hydro shop that you should never get water on leafs when lights are on because it burns them.even everywhere around the net says this too ??

Does it not rain outside and get on the plants? Then the sun will come out with its 10,000 lumens and dry the plants and not burn the plants. Why is misting any different then rain?

I kind of find the "misting" discussion to be a bit off track (no offense to those involved). I never mist anything other than freshly cut clones that I am trying to root. And even then I only do so when I first put them in rockwool and cover with a humidity dome. A plant grown from seed should never need a misting of anything unless you are trying to eliminate pests in my opinion. I just don't see a benefit to misting your plants at any point but again that is just my opinion. I have never found a need for it or had someone tell me it had to be done so I have never researched the benefits or possible harm it can do.

Just my $.02

from my understanding the rain and sun is what gives the plants weather damage out side, thats why we grow indoors cos bud is better looking inside cos not damage by water and rain ?

In all my years of growing I have never seen OD plants damaged because of the combination of sun and rain. I have seen plants knocked over because of a driving rain and wind and I have seen plant develop bud rot because they do not get the sun to dry out the moisture in the buds before the rot sets in. But as far as visible burns on the plant from the combination of rain and sun, never seen it and most likely never will.

Grow shop men sell growing goods, does not mean they are growers.

Misting plants in not a bad thing, i do it during veg not in flower through. Lights will not burn the plant if its a mist. If its droplets of water then maybe as it would magnify more, still doubt it would damage anything.

Misting your plants in veg is not going to hurt them... I don't do it anymore because I did t see any benefits and the first time you hit your bulb by accident it is most likely game over for your bulb. I don't like the idea of misting plants in flower...that is for sure.

Misting your plants is far from weather damaging iamgod....what is with all the buds fanboys?

Sorry iamgod, but biggerbuds and you are just wrong here.

Certain nutrient solutions may cause leaf burn, particularly those with urea based fertilizers (mostly nitrogens), as can sodium- but water simply cannot cause burn. This comes from science- from PH'd's that have studied this, not the kid at the hydro store.

Most, though not all, leaf scorch is the result of a lack of water in the leaves. I often foilar feed under 9000 lumens/sq ft and have never once burned a single leaf. Just because the internet says it's so, doesn't make it right  .

i feel sorry for buds everyone picking on him like this,he sounds like he knows his stuff, why is this happening evertime he writes something ?

Don't know if biggerbuds being banned has anything to do with this post- but for the record I tried to send him a pm to share some info with him- but he had his pm's turned off.

well this is funny because page after page all over the net says spraying and misting under hot lamps can do your plants in.

are you going to say now that all these people are wrong too ?

Good bye Here2stay

Can you not read rules or do you just not care? Misting plants does not harm them. If you want to disagree with mother nature then go right ahead. What do you think happens on misty morning or after rain?

I'll say it-

All those people are wrong!

Just because people share opinions, doesn't make them right.

You obviously know how to use google. Add the word "myth" to your search and you'll get plenty of hits from universities that say otherwise. And they back up what they say with links to scientific research.

'nuff said!

Well, the guy in my local hydro store gave me (I know, wierd aint it) some stuff called Collossal Budblast which is an additive for misting "during the first few weeks of flowering" made by AN.
It is 48-0-0 and I used it on a group of plants for the first 4 weeks under a 600wHPS and guess what, bigger buds on those plants than others that were cuttings from the same mother. I know, there could be other issues at work here, environment etc but it made me think about trying it on other plants too.
I did try it on some vegging cuttings and they were ok too but it fried some seedlings that got in its path!
As most of you know, I am no expert and this is my experience of an experiement I tried which seems to have worked.
The thing is, why would company's like AN and others make this kind of product if it NEVER sold. If growers NEVER misted except for fresh cuttings, no one would ever buy them.
I like experimenting and am willing to give something a try. I ask for advice, then choose weather to take it or not. What I never do is read something online and take that as FACT unless it has been verified by several other sources, including those whose opinions I come to respect, Hick, THG, Hammy and a few others.
Going for a lie down now with a big fat beefy :)

I have absolutely no idea how a nutrient loaded with only N is going to give you bigger buds when sprayed on during early flower. Unless you do a side by side under identical conditions, I do not think any kind of "test run" is valid. Just because they were clones from the same mother does not mean that you keep the identical conditions on both runs.

Companies make these products because people buy them.....whether they work or not. Everyone wants to believe in miracle products that promise extraordinary results. I have tried several things like this over the years with noticing little benefits.

Misting during flowering can and will cause bud rot in climates with higher RH.

assuming someone knows what's going on around here it's already been said but the only time you should mist is new clones while their in the dome. Not to much though because they'll die! Happy median!:D
