Ok I'm in New York, the weather is already turning to ****. My question is has anyone built a canopy to put over the plants to shield them from this cold rain we will get. I would think they still have 3 weeks or more to finish..also the night Temps are dipping into the high 40s

The temps won't hurt 'em, but the rains will. Lots of us put tents/umbrellas to keep the rain off of them. You're begging for bud rot if ya don't.

I have used a portable 10x10 canopy in the past. I still got some bud rot though. A few people on here use a leaf blower to get water off their plants.

we cover stuff up here but only for frost danger and then we use frost cloth

Umbrella and Leaf Blower. You can stop the rain but not the moisture caused by the rain so blow blow blow. 
Drag them into house
They are in the ground.. I thought about it
5 gallon bags on back deck I can bring them out and in depending on weather

Looks like the rain will not be lasting long by you
If you do not have a blower at least go shake each branch a few times after the has stopped , it will get some of the heavy moisture off

Yep,,this yr I'm growing in Fabric pots. I move them on the porch if it rains. No more umbrellas. Yehaaaaaaaaaa 
No good Just keep em dry as much as you can
If NY goes full legal on outdoor growing I would look into a hoop house next year for the wet months.
Nope Leave your where they are, you will disrupt them too much.

I've grown outdoors in pots and in the ground. The difference in size is amazing. In the ground is much better.
