degenerative_disc,
Buy it IF the label lists one of the voltages that matches whatever power you have available.
Check my thread in my signature about converting to remote ballasts, which also covers changing the voltage from one to another one on the label, and then search the DIY for Tater's thread on building reflectors.
In my experience, a square or rectangular reflector is better than a round one.
Remote ballasting lets you use the ballast outside of the grow areaand keeps it a little cooler. I would use it in conjunction with the HPS to give both more light but also more red spectrum for flowering than the MH alone.
If heat becomes and issue, Tater's reflector/hood is designed to be air cooled and you could easily remote ballast both your MH and your HPS, lengthen out Tater's design and put both the MH and HPS in the same air cooled hood.
Incidentally, mine cost me $30 but I was buying in bulk and from wholesalers. Between my oldest son and I, we bought 15 of these, remote ballasted them and he resold his for over $100 each, so $40 is a good deal IF and only if the label lists 120v and/or 240v, which ever you have available in your room.
Good smoking.
