I have been using a bean sprouter for germinating seeds. There is about a 90% success rate. It only takes a couple of days and then the tap roots grow very fast. It's great for those of you who just can't seem to wait.
Bean sprouters are usually used by vegetarians for wheat and alfalfa sprouts. I'm not sure where you can find one... My dad had one and I managed to find one tray (it came with four stacked). Dropped the seeds in, added water (just enough to maintain moist) and cover. Two days, I was in business.
It allows for just enough water and a lot of humidity. 14 out of 16 seeds were germed in 2 days. After 3 1/2 days, the tap roots were TOO long. The only seeds i noticed didn't germ were the ones from really scrawny seeds.
Just my two cents for the impatient.
