Thinking about a portable. I am in the middle of getting a new furnace and that is pretty costly. So Looking for something to just keep a few essential things going.
Honda then
First ,another thing is fuel.
You mow your lawn ( nicely I may add).
You have what it takes to have ,store ,keep fresh gas
Some people dont mow their lawn and have no need to keep gas or even know how.
I dont use a lot of 2 cycle so i would buy the premixxed stuff that kept fresh.
Now battery is the way for my size property
I set up my Brother with a hondaEU 2000 and told him no gas till you need it.
but first you need to see if you need anything 220
i would recommend to customers to get the one plate burner electric or the butane little one burner you see at hotels at omelet stations. A electric stove is too much of a load but a one burner plate is not and a gas bbq makes cooking doable.
I with propane have a aux wall htr 8btu as a back up and cuts down on oil
Having another source of what you need is what I like

How do you keep kittens out of the garden. I have been spraying them with the hose but its getting cooler now so I don’t really want to wet them this time of year. Maybe black pepper around the edges??
That could damage their sense of smells.
Cannabises and cat hair go together ok.
😆

When I was a kid, we had a big female all black shepard that was named Suzie. She hated cats. One time a kitten got in the yard. She chased it into a window well and was going in for the kill. I knew I couldn't get to her before she could kill the kitten, so I turned my head and squinted my eyes, but I just had to look. That tiny little kitten laced Suzie's nose wide open, ran up her head and down her back, and leaped into the maple tree behind her. Ole Suzie was snorting and slinging blood everywhere but would not stop looking for that kitten, still perched in the tree watching. Eventually she calmed down enough for me to get her in the house and mind her wounds, and the kitten took its clue to leave and not come back.

I know this is no consolation Unc but at least rejoice in the fact you bought the EU2000.
Its a great little generator. I have a 3000 and a 1000,.
The 1000 is very quiet and my triple torch lighter uses more gas
They make a compact 3000 now .
The 1000 is so light my lunch is heavier
I just found out some fantastic news! The guy that built my firing range in my back yard as a susprise present to me hadda move to Virginia. <-- That wuz sad, 'cause he was a really nice guy (and a good shot).

Turns out the couple that moved in are the perfect replacement... the husband (who is out fishing in the Gulf Stream as I type this) repairs small engines for a living! 🤩

How fargin lucky is that. So I told his purty lady that I'd either pay him, or just give him my Coleman 6250W pull-start generator with only about 10 hours running time on it to get my tweeny and very expensive hummer running right. Or both -- the big generator is just taking up room in my garage. I will never use it.

Really to be honest, the best generator I ever owned was one we used for new houses in the hamptons.
It was a Winco low speed.
They used a bigger engine and ran it at 1800rpm.
It was 110 volt 3kw and it didnt scream all day.
Which reminds me of the Swede brothers who did oak floors.
He would lay out the floor ,hand nail with a flooring gun ( no air assist) mark a lot of boards start his generator ,make his cuts and shut it off.
He left at 3 with lots of work done.
He got stuck one day and I took him home.
He was a old time craftsman.
I have never seen such beautiful floors in my whole life.
Every room was different.
Chances he never paid for any of it

While you can, buy a gas stove! I also have gas dryer in laundry.

Yep !
When we got the generator I piped that and the stove and a dryer upstairs.
We had propane originally for the dryer and stove but done in 3/8 copper.
We love the gas dryer and reasonable to run seeing our propane bill.
We burn more with a aux htr now.

That is classic cat escapery. Ever try to give a cat a bath? First chance they get they jump out of tub, run down back. There I am, bent over bath tub, (keeping close watch roster isn't sneaking up on me) tee shirt pulled up and over head, bleeding from back.

I have also had one cornered, sprang straight up, pressed off the wall flying over my head. No wonder the Chinese studied them for martial arts. They are survivors. The simple house cat. Magnificent creation. Intelligent, and very good communicators. But you must listen.

My brain aint up to speed.
The honda eu2000 is excellent for someone who could shed the load where needed.
run the ref for a hour run heat as needed.
You got to watch your heat if its hot air .some air handlers connected for heat and ac are 220v.
that as well as a well ( for sure a well)
long story short take a survey and see what you really need ref ,heat ,ltg in key spots,os lites.well. forget central AC. If you have central ac have a 5k btu ac and put in a room in the bad heat.
So see if you need 220volt is a thing .
Not sure if the new hondas EU 3000 is 220 volt
I got the Honda eu2000-i to power a window A/C in the bedroom or the other window A/C I can install in the other end of the house where I am sitting now. Easypeasy to move the little darlin' to whichever window A/C is on deck. These two A/C's are stored in my garage. Takes ten minnits to put 'em in a window.

For 220v and my well, that is for my big, KEY START generator (that I turn on the first of each month to test) to run.

I wrote a formal printed checklist and hung it on my circuit breaker panel in a clear plastic holder that gives step-by-step destructions on how to disconnect from the World, and to start each breaker load one at a time. <-- This was my ole Engineer thingy at play to ensure absolutely anybody (eg: Beautiful Redwitch) could get power to the fridge/freezer/TV etc. without overloading the generator.

Oh. And there is a clear plastic holder with generator start/run destructions hanging on the big generator, too.

Down in Floriduh, I have found over the last 46 years living here that the real problems of hurricanes appear after the storm.

When we watch Cabin Masters on TV, we marvel at the tissue paper/tinfoil roofs they put on houses in Maine. My roof has nailed metal disks no more than an inch apart over the whole roof. <-- TINS. And the house is rebar'd every 18" from slab to roof.

If my house goes... it will go as a complete unit, slab and all.
