my favorite was Avant lake and Spavinaw lake…….

so chill except for the ticks and chiggers and water moccasins and copperheads and the diamondbacks , and the black widows and brown recluse

yeah , I needed a flame thrower just to go camping in oklahoma
I grew up in rural Old Florida. We had all those, and add in coral snakes and alligators and sharks.
In hindsight, I loved it all. Spanish moss and redbugs and all of it.

It's a lot better than my suburban subdivision near a #1-2 nationally crime-ridden city. 😐

I still live in rural florida, spanish moss and the redbugs abound...I'm pretty isolated and have never locked the car doors or even the house doors...Dutch and Ivan are inside when I leave and just hearing Ivan bark is enough to deter most criminals...of course when the three of us leave the alarm is on and the gate is closed...

Can I move in? I don't recall a locked door until the mid '70's. That was in the Tampa area.
My door is locked now when I'm cutting my grass. Damned shame.

I moved to Tampa in 1970 and then 1976 I bought my first home for $21,000. I might as well taking the doors off because it was broken into on a regular basis. After shooting one of the robbers, I decided that Tampa was not for me, and I moved out into the country where I am now, I am starting to notice strangers in my travels out this way, which tells me that things are evolving and not for the better… I have my own gun range outback and I do my best to make sure my neighbors know that I have big guns. I hardly use my suppressors because I want people to know what I’m doing… outfront I have my anti-political name signs along with a don’t trespass on me flag next to my entry road…

no one locks anything around here.,.I have left tools out on the driveway for days….

the only recent problem that we have is people leaving squash on the porch or in the cars if the windows are left open

Hope all had a good holiday. My daughter and SIL were over for an early dinner the just left. Glad to see the place is still standing.

I envy those of you that don't have to lock your doors. Like Oldster I live in the suburbs of a crime riddled sanctuary city. Everyday the chaos moves closer.

I have both indoor and outdoor security. I never leave anything unlocked! Car, house boat trailer even has a lock.
