i don't know what soil to use i read that mirical grow feeds the plants 4-6 months sounds great but does it have the food that my plants will use , i am not looking for a hard to put together mix that i will look for later right now i just would like to use soil that works , do you know if distilled or drinking water are fine for watering plants , its my first time trying all advice on the things i need to keep it alive and health is what i need help with . once i learn how or get the hang of it i will try doing it as good as i read most all of you do . i hope .

I like fox farms soil. However there are growers here who use MG and if memory serves me correct someone did a research grow with it.
I used filtered tap water and adjusted ph to 6.5.
There are some good grow guides here and alot of good advice.
keep it green.

I would not recommend using MG pre-nuted soil. In fact I would not waste my money on any pre-nuted soil.:aok:

I also would not recommend using distilled water in soil.

Fox farm is a great soil for beginners. It has enough nutrients to last about a month then you will have to start feeding. It is a great way to start.

Actually, soils like MG that are prenuted (or have those moisture crystal thingies) are not good for marijuana. To start seeds, you want something with NO nutrients at all. Do you want to grow organic or are you wanting to use bottled chem nutes?

I use Fox Farms Light Warrior for seedlings and Fox Farm Ocean Forest for finishing. I really don't have the accommodations for mixing up my own soils or for composting or like, and I have had great luck with Fox Farms. I use Fox Farms nutes and General Organics.

There is only one MG soil I wld ever recommend, MG Seed Starter Mix. It does not hve time release nutrients in it. I hve been using it for years. Not cheap though and I hve yet to find it in big bags. jmo

I have used Fox Farm Ocean Forest since like 2007. I tried Happy Frog, but I think the Ocean Forest works better.

Yeah, I use FoxFarm's Ocean Forest too,but I mix it 50/50 with ProMix with great results. I've switched to another mix but went back because the 50/50 mix performed much better and retained water/feed better. The 5 gallon pots I use will hold at least a gallon at water/feed time where everything else I used would start draining thru the bottom by the time I had watered only 1/2 gallon. Also, you can use the ProMix by itself for starting seed.

I would love to try the 50/50 mix niteshft. I am unable to find ProMix in my area...not at home depot or menards or any of the local nurseries. If I find it, I will try it. Sounds like a winner.

I also cannot find ProMix, so I used a product called Kellogg's Patio Mix that I can get from HD. Mandala mentions this as a good soil to use and I have been happy with it. It is organic and has some added goodies. I am using this as the base for my supersoil.

i don't know what bottled chem nutes are or there use . is there much of a different beteen them and organic.

I don't use bottled organic nutes--I am using supersoil and make teas once in a while to give them a little supplemental nutrients.

When I was growing hydro, I liked the GH Flora Nova series of nutes. Many here use the Fox Farm trio. Either one of these are good choices for chem nutes. I really can't advise you on premade organic nutes. I believe that driftng has used quite a few premade organics quite successfully.
