Alright i planted some seeds in my garage from a stash of seeds that i've collected from just buying bags off a dealer. Sooo they germinated and what not, and i got them planted each under their own 20w cfl in moisture control soil inside of like a gallon pot. Now i've never used cfl's so i rele didn't know how much to go...i've added this natural hormone called super thrive:huh: too...my friend yet again told me it would garruntee FEMALES:stoned:? Because i do not kno if my seeds were male or female.

You have either got to get different friend or best of all... just stop listening to them... Superthrive is basically seaweed extract that helps with stress and provides vitimans and hormones, it is good stuff but I would rather just get actual liquid seaweed... But this has nothing to do with creating females

Not sure what you mean but don't put them to close to the light. Unless you got a fan cooling them. Good Luck with your grow.

More CFLs for veg and plan on buying a HPS for flowering. Your plants need ventilation--a constant supply of fresh air.

hey smokey bear.... I use 8 cfls on my 2 plants in 5 gal bucket..

ya better listen to massprod.. about that bagseeds... I guarantee you it is 50/50 chance of male or female... but if you do some reading in our threads.. you will see and will find how to get better ratio of females.... by the way that seeds is not feminized seeds.. it's random seeds.. hope I did help you clear it up... no body here is Bullshiz with ya and whos ur friend that said its female? haha yea my friend is a piece of crap but that's beside the point ha. And yea i was planning on when they sprouted to get bigger brighter cfl's online. But i'm still pretty confused on what type of lights i need to use when i wan2 flower them?

Rule of thumb is 5000 lumens per square foot at a minimum. So figure out how big your grow area is and use the lumens on the bulb package to find out how many you need. The 42W ones I have put out 2650 lumens each, so I would need a least two for 1 foot square. 20W are usually around 700-1200 lumens depending on brand so assuming 700, you would need 7 or 8 for 1 square foot. Not a great use of space, get the bigger wattage ones.

A good way to increase females I discovered recently is to put bananas:banana: that are ripening underneath the plants in veg because the ethalene gas coming off of the fruit helps to increase the # of females.
