Hi there,

I just accidentally over-fertilized my outdoor plant growing in a pot. What should I do? I used miracle grow powdered fertilizer. Should I just flush the medium immediately, or will a one-time over fert be ok as long as I don't do it anymore?

Thanks for your help!

Depends on how much you over fertilized it. If only a little, feeding with plain water for the next couple of feeds should do it.

If you really overdid it, give it a good flushing. Hope it works out.

I used 1/2 teaspoon with about 1 liter of water. The directions (which I misread) indicate 1 teaspoon per gallon. In other words, approximately 1/4 teaspoon per liter. So in essence, I doubled the recommended dosage when I meant to cut it in half.

Any more ideas?

He answered it...for every 1 gallon of pot size (plant holder not the plant itself :p) flush with 2-3 gallons of water...slowly. let drain well before adding more water. You want all that green nasty junk out MG will fry I mean DEEP FRY the plant. If there are no holes in the bottom of the pot...better get the drill out. Proper drainage is a must. ;)

Give it a good watering with plain water ... matter of wait and see I suppose. Don't have any experience with miracle gro products . Depends on how strong it is.

Good luck.

The Miragle Grow Plant Food that I used is 24-8-16.

flush them out with 3 times the amount of water as ypu have soil. this will bring you back to sqyare one. theb after a few days water again at 1/4 strength
