Hmmmm...any particular reason for choosing autos? Not trying to give ya grief or anything, maybe a nice OG Kush (Reserva Privada) or something like Trainwreck or whatever in a regular seed might make you happier.

Autos are known to be a bit less potent and not as good on weight as you may do with a regular strain...this is jmho and meant to give you info...food for thought!

Welcome to MP, nice to hear you and the wife are supporting the movement to legalize MJ.

I am growing full size AK47 in pots in my yard right now. They are in pots so the size is smaller than if they had been planted in the ground. I grew them last year and was quite impressed with their yield. The fact they finish early too was a big plus for me.

For what it's worth I agree...if you decide you like growing you might want to rethink autos vs regular photo period. It is an awesome feeling to be able to hang onto your genetics via clones. Not to mention with the right strain you can get close to the quick turn around that autos provide but with better potency. Jmo

Good thoughts, I have 2 auto AK47's ordered so that's it for now BUT I need to re-evaluate my space and read a lot more of these posts.
My 3 in pot plants are moving very slow and the buds are only along the center stem (these are seeds from an old bag so its just a test?)
The hydro seems to be doing okay, just had a yellowing on the leaves from pics I could find looked like iron def, Checked my res and found the PH a little high, not knowing a lot checked around and added a bit of vinegar, seems to be helping

Foodstuffs have a very limited ability to adjust pH. If you are going to run hydro, you are going to need a pH meter and some pH down. Your pH range is so small (5.3 to 6.0) that it really is a mistake to try and guess or use something like strips or drops to get an accurate reading. Something to measure ec is also nice.

Wow, things are getting complicated before I even start. PH meters seem to be costly and complicated?? Maybe I should rethink this Hydro and start with soil till I get a good handle on this?
Also getting mixed messages on lighting, I am using CFL's now but thinking I need to invest in some HID lighting or full spectrum LED's although they seem very expensive.
I'm going to move on to some basic growing threads and re-evaluate my choices.
I do appreciate and thank everyone for the info and advice, better to re-adjust now rather than have a disappointment at harvest time.

CheCk out some of the old sChool methods. They are True and Tried and don'T cosT as much. GrowinG marijuana does not have to be rocket science. What We do here is to produce as much as We can in a small space and as much as we can from the least amount of plants because of the laws. there are other ways to grow our medicine. I switched from hydro to dirt because of all the babysitting you have to do. You might want to think about organic growing. A better light would be A step in the right direction.
