Okay, after being gone for a while, I am back. I am in the process of an actual grow this time. I germinated about 6 seeds and they all sprouted in a paper towel. I planted them in little pots and have them kept in this trunk/foot locker thing. I have a flourescent light on them right now. I guess I'm just wondering how long I should let them veg for before I begin to flower and sex them. Also when is a good time to add nutes and what are some of yall opinions of different nutes? All your help is appreciated. Pics will be up soon.

How long do you plan on keeping them in the foot locker?...what is this the grow area? a foot locker with a flor light...sorry my friend but I am of no help today...sorry

get out your notepad...

One rule is to let them grow until pre-flowers show, but isn't necessary.
You can let it grow until it is a foot tall (30cm) then switch the light to 12 on 12 off.

IMO,I would wait about 2 weeks until feeding them for the first time.
I suggest using fox farms nutrients, but any non-synthetic nutrient will do fine.
(feed them 1/4 recommended strength first then slowly, and gradually work them up)
I usually do this until I see small signs of nutrient problems (yellowing or spots), then flush the soil with ph'ed water, cut the nutrients back some, then I know what the plant wants every time.

good luck, hope I helped, and can't wait to see some pictures.

Do you have more light and space planned for flowering?

okay, thanks for your help, especially choking victim. The trunk is a good 3 ft long x 1.5 ft deep x 1 ft tall. I will be getting more light and a for space, I plan on inverting the trunk so it will be about 3 ft tall and that way I will have more grow room. The seed I used, while it is only bagseed, was from a fairly decent bag of schwag (which is all a college student on a budget smokes). The stuff out where I live now is much better than the stuff back home. Back home the schwag is really compressed (almost flat) and most of the weight is in stems and seeds. Anyway, I will post pics as soon as I can find the cord for my cam :D

i used them cfl bulbs get the cool blue neutral ones they put out more the bluer and white spectrum than a normal yellow type bulb which is better for veg. and they got more lumens than one florescent i think get the strongest ones i'd say two or three bulbs per plant positioned just right would be suffice maybe

I've read that a good NPK ratio for your nutes during veg. is 2-1-1 cause they like the nitrogen. haha so like 10-5-5, 20-10-10, ext. anyways hope this helps

,Pete

just a quick update, ive been gone all day, moved into my new place and had to go make groceries and such. my babies are doing pretty well. i have 6 seeds that i sprouted and all of them seem to be doing pretty good. They are a few days old new, with some of them showing signs of the next set of leaves after the fist serrarated ones. Wish me luck!

I recommend reading some stuff on micro cabinet grows. Your space is really tiny and IMO, you are going to need the advise of some experts to finish a plant in that small of a space.

LST or 'low stress training' would do well in a small environments as yours.

"LST is something that uses the same plant hormone, but for a different reason, (sort of).

MJ has a hormone that it sends the most of to the tallest branch tip on the plant. It also sends a lesser amount of this hormone to the tallest part of each branch on the plant.

This hormone makes the tallest branch the "Primary" branch on the plant. It's where the largest bud on the plant will grow and is also the fastest growing branch on the plant.

The plant can be "fooled" into sending the most of this hormone to a different branch by simply MAKING another branch the tallest. This is what LST does.

With LST, you gently bend the primary, (tallest), branch over, or any other branch, and secure it so that it is now NOT the tallest branch. You have to do this in several days, using very small gentle moves until you arrive at it's new elevation. Then, you use a twist tie or string to secure it in it's bend.

Whatever branch is now the tallest branch will have the most "tallest growth" hormone sent to it by the plant.

LST also accomplishes something else.

The branch that you bend over can be tied so that the top of the branch is lower than the rest of the same branch. This will cause the side stems on that branch to start growing directly up in competition to be the tallest on that particular branch." -stoney bud

LST is definetly an option here as well I would put your plants into flower as soon as you have your second set of real leaves. This will keep them short and hopefully easier to manage. Its true it will reduce your yield but I doubt it in your case. Could be an interesting cfl grow if you put bulbs every few inches on the side of the plants or something. Post some pics I'm interested to see what you come up with as I'm about to try flowering a plant in a PC case this fall and will be facing some of the same challenges.

I was most definitely looking into the whole LST thing. I've got 5 babies and when they get big enough to begin flowering and I find a female (I hope that I have one or two!) I will get rid of the others and concentrate on the females. I am thanking everyone for their patience and suggestions. The pictures I have been taking didn't come out so well, I'll have to fool around with the settings on my camera. (I have been moving this weekend, and it took me a while to find the right cable). But they are healthy, a good deep green color and all are now showing signs of the first set of leaves (I guess thats what they are). Anyway, I will keep y'all posted and continue to update every few days or so. I will also get pics up as soon as I fix the darn camera. Thanks so much!
