I use 15 gallon smart pots. So i usually make up a batch in 15,30,45,and 60 gallon increments.

This is also a recipe for those wanting to save money on those expensive bags of 'grow shop soil'

I buy everything at any local jerrys/lowes/home depot. And anything else i can get at a gardening shop for too much.

Mix #1 (very interesting name i know)
2.5 gallon peat moss-Jerrys
8 gallon Black Gold( water retention with coco coir)-Jerrys
4 gallon Garden Valley (eugene oregon) potting soil- Jerrys
.5 gallon Black Gold Perlite- Jerrys
30 tablespoons alfalfa meal(4-2-4)with mycorrhizae etc(2 per gallon)- Jerrys
3 tablespoons humic ore(huge 50 pound bag was cheap compared to the expensive sprays etc, might look into this one)
10 tablesppons oyster shell-Jerrys
30 tablesppons Bone Meal(Hi-Yield 0-10-0)-Jerrys
12 tablespoons Azomite-(i think i might up this in the future)
10 tablespoon Kelp Meal(dr. Earth)-Jerrys
1 Tablespoon Lime(hi-Yield)-Jerrys

The pH after moistening was within the 6-7 range, the mix fluctuates while baking but never goes much over 7 or much under 6

This is a lot more 'Soil-y' than most people like so if you want to up the perlite.

After the soil has baked i mix in 30 tablesppons of high phosphorous bat guano and then i do like subcool and toss some of my black gold as a buffer layer mixing it in a litle at the surface then putting one more in. I only use this mix for flower, since my plants are vegged bare-root and bareroot transferred.

hey krymphus welcome aboard! sounds like a good mix except i might leave out azomite if your adding humic ore. they are both from leonardite & azomite is a lil bit pricey, at least where im at. it dont really matter cause you cant over do it w/ that stuff, it really does make a differance. also it sounds like you have a pretty wide ph swing between your mixes of same recipe. id def add more lime. 1 tbs per 15g just isnt going to help buffer, IME. sounds like it works well for ya. thats the great thing of gardening find what works then tweek it til its awesome. GL & post up pics of your girls in this soil if yuo could.

thx

Can you fill me in on this type of growing?

As they are for completely different functions, why leave one out? Azomite is a micronutrient source and humic acid is the perfect carrier of micronutrients from soil-to-plant and leaving one out would be like riding a bicycle with a flat tire. It can be done, but why would you want to?

I assume he is using a cloning tray/mister w/o a root medium.

Then he *carefully transfers the plant with bare roots into the soil. Look up EZ Cloners.

Right?

NV my thinking is if theyre both mined from leonardite then wouldnt humic ore be enough? it should still contain 67 trace minerals right. regardless i also see your point & i know it cant hurt.

Thanks OG, but I was wondering about the vegging barerooted, and why if you did this DWC or what ever, why would you change to soil at this point?

Maybe because he gets better results with an aero cloner or bubble cloner than with cloning in soil. Why does it make a difference if you transfer bare rooted clones into hydroton or into soil? I have done both and both work very well.
