Well the truck that just won’t leave have us another present. First, we had to pull the engine to have a cylinder head replaced. But parts dept ordered the wrong side head. So we had it repaired. Reinstalled by another tech. He bent the valve while timing it and we didn’t know till it was running. Engine comes back out. Pull heads and send both to machine shop. Get them back, cam bearing journal looks like it was media blasted. Send both heads back. Get heads back today and the guy putting the heads on is confused. I come over there and damn if we don’t have two left side cylinder heads. Call machine shop. They say they didn’t do it. Only one set heads at the time for this engine. Well we dang sure didn’t pull two left side heads off this engine.
I don’t believe in voodoo but sometimes I wonder
I used to rebuild cylinder heads, including racing heads (double hump - angle plug 350 Chevy heads). We did welding, new seats, rotary broach, new cam journals, etc. We pressure tested them for leaks. We did it all, aluminum and cast iron. Tractor heads, too.

We used to encounter incompetent mechanics and machine shops, and had to set them straight. We put heat tabs on our rebuilt heads, and the center would melt if it overheated - which was Not our fault... So, check your thermostat, water pump, or whatever. But it will cost you to fix the head that you f'd up.

Any of the rest of you eat seafood on Fridays?
