I don't do trophy catch and kill...too easy to measure a fish accurately and get good pics for a replica instead of a mount. The replicas last longer, too.

Those big fish are often used by the dept of natural resources to for stocking programs to further the species and for breeding. Gotta let the strong survive to pass on those genetics 😁
My kinda fisherman. I haven't mounted a fish since 1985. 8 lb Brown on a 4wt Sage rod using 5x tippet. Here she is along with her sister.

Don't get me wrong, when I travel south, I do catch and fillet them right there on the river and put em on ice.

They have a very aggressive stocking program, and high volume of dinner sized rainbow and brownies...don't feel bad about having fresh trout on the grill... But just like the deer I harvest, I take only what I need...and share with neighbors and family.👊

Walt I saw a snake fall from the sky once on the Sub base. the birds occasionally drop them from way up high in the parking lot at the admin building I think to kill/stun them…
That's no doubt spot on. First thing I thought of as to the origin of the buzzer.

When we were kids at Jones Beach, we'd watch the seagulls dropping clams onto the paved parking lot so they'd bust open and the goodies would be available for their lunch. They'd pick them up at the surfline and get them open by dropping them from about 100' up.

This caused some amusement for us -- although the seagulls generally used the empty lots, sometimes they would drop the clams and hit parked cars. I found an old (1935) NYTimes newspaper article that reported folks getting gull-bombed by clams on Atlantic Beach. Screwed up traffic.

Oh. Take (*ahem*) note where Atlantic Beach is. Clams. Available on the surf line to gulls and kids.

Just sayin'...

I used to guide for big fish (Mostly striped bass and catfish.). Also did commercial bait fishing as well.

We used to deliver live shad across the southeast... Used big boats, big shad holding tanks, and custom built trailers to capture them in the wild and transport them to customers in order boost the biodiversity and health of fish in their private lakes and ponds. Met folks like Jeff Foxworthy and Luke Bryan during my time with that company.

Safe to say I'm pretty skilled with a 10' cast net.😤

Bout a 50# Blue cat.

Striper and Hybrid Striped bass are my specialty. 😁

I'm familiar with most waters that have them here in the southeast. I used to target them in the spring and fall at the dams...

Why i use those as bait to catch Texas Blues. Okay, so I'm lying. 😁
Nice catch. Lake Texoma has some nice stripers.

Yes is does. Texoma is also one of the only waters in that area that supports natural reproduction of landlocked striper due to the salinity of the water....

There are more of em and that generally promotes smaller fish overall, but I feel ya. 😁😉

Absolutely.
Where you from bro? Were you born and raised in SV?

This was during the time I was in the industry, and fishing and guiding here.

There used to be an active steam plant on the Warrior river where this monster was caught...it would draw the big momma's around mid February because the water was warm and big bait hung out there. Popped some 40s there but nothing this big.

Born in the foothills of North GA. Raised in Alabama...left as fassssssst as I could haha.

Most of my trophy fishing was in Bama and Tennessee. IMO Tennessee can't be touched. I have EXTENSIVE experience there and still make regular trips.
