When I first started the grow I made the mistake of leaving the lights too far from the plant, causing it to be top heavy. It was drooping yesterday so I put it under the CFLs hoping it would pick itself up. It didn't. So I tied it to a support stick and now it's standing up. Will I need to use this stick throughout the grow, or will the stalk get thick enough to hold up my baby?

Leave it just in case. When buds start forming they could get heavy and fall over. I have to tie a few up every now and then.

what I have done is transplant it deeper and just bring the soil up to compinsate for the stretch.

It would be interesting to see pics, many inventive and knowledgeable people use this forum, as ive always said, there are no problems that have no solutions.

Thanks guys. I would leave it on there till bud, but right now it's just a seedling. Whenever come transplant time I'll probably bury a little of the stem. This is my first grow, so I am not expecting much. Thanks guys, ya'll are great. :p

Have you got a fan on it?, the stem needs stimulation for it to grow strong, a fan moving the plant makes the stem have microscopic rips in it, they repair and become mini scars, over and over again making the stem thick and strong.

Thanks here are the pics. Would a box fan be over kill?

^^^ "yup"...just like exercise/body building for your plant. On a seedling that small, just enough air movement to give the leaves and stem a "rippling, vibrateing" effect should be sufficient.

They are not top heavy, they are growing, what you see is how they grow, a fan or air movement is needed to strengthen the stem.

I tied them to the stick, before I did it was laying down. Like it was top heavy.

BOO to the fan leave it natural just give it a 12 hour semi breeze not even a wind and youll grow kill its not the stem your worried about its about the fan leaves then the nodes then the flowers

I believe...the stem/stalk transports nutrients to the rest of the plant. A larger stem, not only will support more/bigger growth, but provides the needed nutrients that encourages maximum growth.
.......another case of "bigger is better"..;)

Not true i think your talking about the roots hick ;) the better the roots can **** up the nutes the better the plant thrives you dont need 2 damage your plant

"Who" said anything avout 'damaging'??
It doesn't matter how big your roots are if the stalk can't communicate/transport the vital needs.. A healthy meristem that can "at least" support the plants own weight is essential.
I have had occurances, where plants neede to be tied "up" late in flower, in order to support the weight, but at this stage, a seedling, most definately should be supporting itself.

I water it when the dirt starts to get dry but its always very moist. So should I put the box fan on it on a low setting?

Let her dry out between waterings..mj doesn't like wet feet continuosly..and "yes" a box fan "NOT" directed on the plant, but in the area/space, where it is moving the air and plant just a little.

I would do as mutt said and transplant deeper to the bottom leaves. You will need a bigger pot anyways. Then do as hick says, use a fan and let it go dry between waterings.
