Im a bit of a cheapie, crunched for cash. What cheap lights can i use that will be most effective and what is there going rate, and where can i purchase them? my closet is pretty warm so heat output need not be high.

looks like your going to have to go with flouroscents. Look in the Lighting thread...note LOOK not neccesarily post, you can learn a lot from others expierence.

The price is about 30 bucks..

Hurry or they will run out LOL
it a mercuy vapor

If your closet is warm I'd recommend 2' T5 Fluorescents. They have the least heat output of anything I've seen. Even CFLs begin to get good and hot if there's more than 5 or so close together.

guys... dont be using mercury vapor... those are garbage when it comes to growing plants... use clfs or flouros if u cannot afford hps or mh

i just caught that when looking a the page, Mercury Vapor is worthless for plants at least for a 175 watts. thanks for the page thou..

you can get a 70w HPS for $70.
it looks bright as hell, and has very low heat issues.
just bought one, rather simple installation/set-up

6200 something lumens.
good for about a 1.5 Sq Feet.
im thinking of buying atleast one more, maybe 2 more.

i like it so much, because i hate the ammount of heat i have to deal with; with a normal say 400w hps.
3 of these wolnt even come close too a 250w.
