I just built my veg room, and i noticed that when locked inside, there is a small amount of light coming in, not direct light, but enough to make out the shape of the flower box and see the light hanging.

question: How does marijuana flower at all when the moon provides more light than what is in my flower chamber?

Basically what im saying is i dont believe that to flower, the plant has to be in zero visability darkness, just not in direct light and it should be mostly dark with no direct light leaks shining on the plants.

lets hear some insight!

:farm: why not just try it for yourself and let US know how it goes JB, I never had a leak, or looked in during lights off, so it's an issue I take for granted too :hubba:

Yeah, as most of the things i learned on this site, its more trial and error, now even tho a minuscule amount of light is coming in, i dont believe it to be enough to trigger veg again, i guess i will just post up my results!

JB this was in one of the forums. Not much light is actually given off by the moon.

Outside Daylight: This is the biggy! Direct outside daylight in the summer time is somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 foot candles. This is equal to 10,000 lumens per square foot. If you already know a little bit about lighting, you will find this really amazing. If not, as our discussion continues this will eventually hit you as amazing.

Overcast Daylight:1,000 foot candles.

Open Shade: While standing under a large tall tree, you experience the amount of light referred to as open shade. The light intensity you experience here is somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 foot candles.

Deep Shade: 50 to 100 foot candles.

Average Lit Room: 5 to 10 foot candles.

Full Moonlight: .02 foot candles.

Starlight: .00011 foot candles (that's 11 one-millionths )

But keep us posted, I always wondered about this myself.

thanks pc duck, im pretty sure that although some light is coming in, it will not be enough to disrupt the flowering process, i mean, when im in there, its fricken dark! but i can see light coming in through ducting since it is connected to another light, i just dont see how it can be enough to hurt, well, i guess we will have to see, i start flowering today prob and i will post my results!

JBonez have you tried putting a bend in your duct work that the light is coming through? That may help with the light entering.

I have always made my rooms "can't see your hand in front of your nose" dark.
But keep us posted. Should be very informative.

yeah, if i didnt bend it then i would have way more light coming in! but im thinking that the ducting that is black on the inside will be better, it doesnt reflect any light.

either way im going to start flowering here shortly, ill post results.

Indirect light will not revert your plants into Veg.
BUT, it could be a factor in turning a plant into a morph. I have seen that happen.

This answers the question i wanted to know the most, and i hope its not enough to hermie, that would suck.

well to prevent light from coming in use door weather stripping were you see light coming in that is what i did for both my grow boxes and i have no light escaping on going in.
