I saw in the indoor section a sticky on wet and dry cycles. The same applies to outdoor growing with one difference, you can water alot more. Some of the biggest plants I ever grew in the ground were grown in a area that was dry to the bone and for several feet into the ground very dry. Watering by buckets or bottles just wasn't efficient enough so I used a method called flood irrigation. Basically I just let the hose run night and day until the entire area was saturated. By doing this the dirt right around the plant gets wet, and so does the area surrounding the grow. Of course once the saturation is done, you need to wait for dryness, but in the mean time the plants will bust out with new growth. Now I have had plants that got next to no water through their entire life and they grew healthy and had some good bud. But when outdoor plants get extreme amounts of water from start to finish, they can grow to 10 or 15 feet tall and yield several pounds each. Have a good summer and grow 'em big!:)
