I have some of these I wouldnt mine using but havent for a couple reasons. 1 it has more areas through the slats for bugs to get in. 2 I have mini pumpkins growing in a half barrel and mushrooms sprouted along the sides...do you use them succesfully? so far I have stuck with plastic or ceramic heavy ones. thanks for replying people.

grow in a tin can if ya want LOL it won't hurt. slats in the side may aid in some root air pruning and lessen the amount of root circling you get with plastic pots.

I've had great success w/ large plastic containers outdoors or directly in amended soil. Wood tends to leave nooks and crevices insects can hide in. And it frequently harbors fungus - hence the mushrooms. I'd recommend againts it.

good to know. I was worried about rot and mold with the wood.

well I have so many pots that I dont have to use the wood ones I will save them for flowers.
