That is weird that the two of you are having issues popping seeds. Are they from the same vendor(I hesitate to use the term breeder anymore as it seems that tide turned when legalization went into overdrive)? Are the seeds old and how do you store them? I store mine in the fridge with some of those desiccant packs. I haven’t popped any of my 2019 seeds recently but other people have and they seem to be viable and vigorous. I wonder if vendors store seeds in a freezer. I know some cannabis seeds will survive freezing since my neighbor had some volunteers pop up this year that had overwintered in her yard.

I keep them at room temperature in low humidity, and have popped some from 2020 not that long ago. The GDPA and SF seeds were from plants I pollinated and for sure the SF seeds have been troublesome in the past, but not the GDPA. I also had some tomato and pepper seeds leftover from seeds I started in the spring, and they didn't pop either.

Putting them in the fridge is for reducing humidity? I considered it when I read that others did it, but I wondered if the heating and cooling of the defrosting process would be harmful.

Puzzling, I haven't had a problem basically ever. I am going to try scuffing some seeds also. Do the edge where the separate, or just right on the side of them? Strange how it seems to have happened all at once.
I do the edges. I'm not sure if the goal is to open the seams for water to get in, or to weaken the shell to let the sprout out. With the stubborn SF seeds my experience is they need to sink in water over a couple of hours, or they need more sanding.

I put them in the fridge just because I figured it would slow down any degradation. Might not though. I make sure they are good and dry before storing them by storing them in sealed containers with those desiccant packs for some random period of time😂(probably not really making sure they are good and dry-just assuming they are).

I have heard of people lining a matchbox with fine sandpaper and shaking the seeds in the matchbox to weaken the seed covering. I haven’t tried it though.

2 in the back are permanent markers. Not happy with how they started. Only 2 of the 10 that made it. 3 others are from Carty: 1 blue berry pancakes and the other 2 are chocolate thai and I had no problem what so ever with germination or transplant. Chiller seems to be working great. Long long way to go. So far so good. Let's see what I can F.U first. hahaha.

Good to see ya back up and running.

I said I was going to sit out summer because of my set up, mainly the drying part. The area I have to dry is a different building and a perfect 60/60 during the wintertime. Cost to much to keep it cool during the summer. But really, between family and everything we had going mid summer, I didn't sit it out on purpose. Still got plenty of stash from last run. Them grove bags Jan and I chatted about a while back had to be knock-off junk as the zipper has ripped out of the big one. Now, If I can just remember which grow shop I purchased them from. (What else) ... I should be able to hang this week coming up early in the day. Been an extremely busy summer at real work... Seems like I made some minor changes in the grow room when I put the chiller in.... Here is a tip I guess.... If you are going to personally build your own grow room with in a stick built building... regardless of how big you think you are going to need it, add about 16 extra inches in all directions, AND add at least 4 to 6 extra receptacles. We have plenty of breaker space and the electrical box had expansion in mind to allow for a pool pump which we later decided to wire a different way. Ya... Smoke another one, I'm a little buzzed up this AM with a heck of a honey do list for the weekend.

I cracked beans from 2016 the C99 3 out of 5 popped. They were and are being kept in the fridge. I moved mine to the fridge about 6 month ago. Never had to worry about if until I started collecting thru trades
