just transplanted a week ago from 1 gal to 5 gal soil---plants started looking like the soil was too hot and some leaves began to get a bit rusty looking and crinkly---bought a new meter and tested my ph---if the tester is accurate---the ph is running @ 7 having a lock out and needs to come down---pm was also starting to show a bit cause of the alkalinity in the soil---ended up top dressing, tilling and watering in some slow release cotton seed meal 1 tbs / gal and a handful of fast release epsom salts to bring down the ph---just checked the ph 12 hours later and it has not budged---considering more drastic measure of adding vinegar to the next watering to get this ph right and the plants to start their recovery---my concern is killing off beneficials---only another 2-3 weeks left to veg cause i have height restrictions and need to get a grip on this lock out---how long should it take for the epsom salts to do their thing---and what might you do to bring your soil ph to an acceptable range in a hurry?

thanks

How much dolomite Lime did you use?

A aact tea high in fungi will help.

tooo much lime in my soil pile---slow release build up in the pile---gonna be adding the cotton seed meal to that to get it right for the next time--what is A aact tea high in fungi senor duck

never knew you could have too much lime....

what is A aact tea high in fungi

Something with a Fish Hydrolysate, mushroom compost, something of that nature.

so mr duck you are essentially telling me to pump up my beneficial colony??

Yes the fungi like a -7pH once the fungi eats the over balance of bacteria your pH will drop. Just takes longer when the overload is caused by to much lime.

as always---muchas gracias---senor duck :48:

this will be the 2nd or 3rd run you have helped me out of a potentially bad situation--MVP
^
saved you saved my crop

:48: you have no idea my friend--- the duck forgot more than you and i ever thought of;)

hey OS, how's the rust; is it like an interveinal rusting/bronzing (kinda tiger striped), or straight up full leaf rusting?
if the former.. that was my recent result of 'uncooked' lime on mine.

if it's not too much, it could've just been too 'hot'

..not any substantial input  but thought on the off chance it is that, i'd post ;)
:)

hey kao---straight up full leaf rusting/burning---soil was a bit hot---and the ph was too high---they didn't die from the epsom salt application and looks like things are a bit more balanced now---using a foliar spray---i have not killed them yet---so lets just hope they grow thru it---i'll be overcrowding the myco colony as the duck suggested and s/b good to go soon---if i cut the few rusty leaves from each plant they look pretty good overall---think i got a little green mojo going my way now

Whoa OS Epsom salts will not bring your Ph down !

Maybe just follow ducks advice he has some good tea remedies that will fix your gals up in no time .
I could share a few ideas but my products for tea's are Australian products .
I can;t help you there brother.

Dolimite lime will balance soil Ph . I use lemon juice ina bottle for Ph down its cheaper than WHITE vinegar but now that i use bubble teas all that Ph buiseness is history thanks to Hushpuppies recommendation ;)

Good luck ! THC :)
