Three more days before the fat old elf visits the ranch! Ever since the Old Hen and I were married, we've always had our personal Christmas on Christmas eve. We'd do ours early 'cause we'd do the 25th with her folks in the morning and my folks in the afternoon. It was easier on us, and we were still kids and just couldn't wait for the 25th. After the Pullet joined the family, we saw no benefit in changing it even though both sets of parents have shuffled off their mortal coils.
I have to admit, even though it's my 69th Christmas, I'm still looking forward to it. Even more so; I know what I'm getting 'cause I picked it out! Just like a kid, I can't wait to play with my new toys.

Same here...We used to go to sister in law's to eat, and they brought father in law. Now sis in law is divorced, and father in law can't hardly get about. So they just bring some food to him, and eat, then we do our thing on Christmas Eve. Just fix Christmas dinner here and eat by ourselves... We pick from a list, so I'm really not sure what I'm getting, but I know it will be good. Gonna try some new stuff this year, going to make short bread cookies tomorrow, and an orange pound cake with orange bourbon glaze Monday.

I'm fortunate that Grayfox takes care of all the Christmas cards and gifts except hers. I asked her what she wanted and at her suggestion we agreed that the new charger system that I bought would be our collective Christmas present this year, but of course I secretly bought Grayfox a new gold watch with a larger dial that she can read, and she will surprise me as well.

The wife and I hardly ever get each other something for Christmas, sometimes we will surprise one or the other. We look at all the things we have to get over the year and call it good. Now the kids are another story, they are taken care of. My grandkids are adults now so Christmas only has one meaning to me and it is the reason for the season, and that is not the gifts.

Waiting for the oil to get hot. Making some Ruffle's style home made 'tater chips. Anybody got the munchies?
Made some popcorn last night. Waiting for my popcorn machine to come in. Until then it's the old fashioned way.
Yehaaaaaaaaaa 🤠

We use this popcorn. It's really good.

Got brownie points today. The Old Hen bought a five piece set of Hallmark's Peanuts band wireless Christmas thingies. She bought them back in 2011. Two of 'em worked, and the other three didn't. They had the original batteries in 'em. Put new batteries in the three. Nope. Looked closely at the contacts. Corroded. Put some acid on 'em to clean 'em. Nope. Wound up cutting down an emery board, held the springs with a pair of hemostats, and sanded 'em. Fresh batteries and the world is lovely. Old Hen was ecstatic.
She came in this morning to thank me again with tears running down her face from happiness. I was just as happy as she was 'cause I'd found the exact set on fleabay for $350 and was figuring out a way to have 'em overnighted.

These things are pretty cool. You push a button on one and they play their song while the others chime in with their accompaniment. Each one has a different song and the other ones play harmony. They sure meant a lot to the wife.

I love Christmas collectables. I started collecting then in 2010 for the grandkid. Now I have them everywhere They all play a different song. The grandkids sure love them. I only have one rule. One at a time.
