The car manufactures make money from both car sales and replacement parts.

When GM did their EV study a couple of decades ago, they found that maintenance and replacement parts sales were so low as to make them unprofitable.
The manufacturer doesn’t make any money off the service and repairs. That’s the dealership. And they are independent of the car manufacturers. All I can say is what I was told. I have no idea if it’s changed. Or if it was accurate then or not.

I worked for a Dealership in my younger days and you are absolutely correct. Fking dealership are a rip off especially their service and parts department.

A dollar? Maybe 20 years ago. Takes a five spot to get me on the pole anymore.

The manufacturer does make money on replacement parts that they sell to the dealerships and EV's don't have transmissions, and electric motors are extremely low maintenance. Even the brake pads last longer because most braking is dynamic which recharges the battery.

Does the Ford dealership where you work service EV's?

I used to build computers for a hobby.
Fry's Electronics was my favorite place to buy Motherboards and Processors and etc. they had sales all the time. Now you can pretty much bye them just as cheap already built unless your a gamer.

I've heard of Fry's but never lived close to one....I kinda like the option of doing it my way. I put my Windows on one hard drive, and I have another hard drive for storage, and games. Just going to take the hard drive from the one I'm using now, I have pictures I've saved since 2012, recipes, metal detecting stuff, etc.

Indeed! During that mystical free love age from about the late sixties to mid-seventies, before Herpes and HIV reared their ugly heads.
I remember those days well. Got through the Sexual Revolution without a purple heart! Wasn't from lack of trying. The purple helmeted heat seeker went spots it probably shouldn't have....

I hear those Japanese car dealerships are the worst........

Mercedes gets their pound of flesh, but they provide good customer service.

Use to clone my Hard Drives just in case of a bad virus or something goes wrong.
1st computer I built was back in 1998. It was a Pentium 933 that I overlooked to 1050.😁

I tried to get the local computer store to install a breathalyzer on my computer. I can't remember what version of windows it was, but it was one of the first. I'd do something and a prompt would pop up "do you want to to this?", then I'd go ahead and do it and I'd get another prompt "do you really want to do this?". I needed a third prompt, "Damn it Hippie, are you drunk again?".
Would have saved me a lot of anxiety and problems.

Lol...my first was in 2001, but I have always been an AMD fan...I had this huge steel server case I bought, it had a slide out motherboard tray, I loved it, but it was heavy as heck, and ended up being hard to cool, after a couple more builds with faster, hotter cpu's. I actually still have the case, sitting in a corner, just can't bring myself to get rid of it.
