No offense taken. We also own a Jeep GCL for those occasions where the EV isn't suitable. Our EV is strictly a town car, which is where 99% of our driving is. We have put less than 1000 miles a year on our Jeeps.

Our maintenance and repair costs besides tires has been under $1,000 and fuel costs have been about 25%. If we walk away from it today our loss will be $12,000 for the 9 years we've driven it, or about $1,333 a year.

As for the costs they are charging for EV's today, I think they are absurd and wouldn't buy one either. Especially since an EV is much simpler and easier to build than gas cars.

I infer it because the car manufacturers have figured out that they won't be supplementing car sales revenue with replacement part sales and need to get their money up front to maintain profitability.
Several years ago I was told by a Ford rep that they lost money on their EV cars. But were required to have them for federal emissions.
