Nope,,just a regular ole Wife Thermostat. You can hook them up to a new or old unit. Doesn't matter if it's an old ac unit. It's all controlled by the Thermostat. Of course you need Wifi which nowadays most ppl have.
And seeing you are an electrician I heard you can make one of these work wonders
