Seriously though, when you are getting rid of males, are you really getting rid of them? Is it not worth the bother of drying them and smoking them even though they are weak? And maybe this is a question for the breeders forum, but it takes two to tango, what can you tell from the male smoke in regards to it siring kick-*** daughters?

Ha-Ha Wolfie,
How right you are. That's about the only use besides snagging pollen. I do know that the pollen if properly stored can last over a year. I used to give the small males to my cat as soon as they were discovered, and man did he love half chewing them and drooling all over the stuff, but then he slams into walls if he gets catnip. In fact I'm certain he curses his paws and has a secret desire to roll and spark. LOL

smoke in peace

(sigh)... I don't throw out my males... got 2 of them.. maybe more later ;)

just that I realized keeping males will be more likely less chance to have hermies.. you do not want females to feell where the penis? where that nuts? then one of them emerge to be male in some way and be queer.. and all that..no thanks.. I'm keeping my males.. and pluck their sacks.. and they are in freezer... need them? let me know..

I did smoked males.. but I didn't inhale them... taste awfully

I ate males.. taste funny than stems of females... is that what you wanna know

here some?

if the male is of a good strain wouldn't he have those genetics? if so why not save the pollen to cross breed on another good strain of a female? I would like to know this for future reference.

Yes.

To make quality strians you need both a good female and male.

I have six males right now and it looks like I will only harvest two.

...But I am also breeding too...

me too.. got 2. and one is indica.. other one is maybe N.L.

I do collect these sacks separate bags.. and freeze them in freezer

if you keep the males.. you pretty much just waist space and light.. they sit in there for 8 weeks and dont do anything.. Unless you are breeding, flowering the male is pointless and a waist of time/space/light.. pretty much

I am new to Growing and have a seperate Box I built for the Male when I get them..They will be pulled from Flower room and placed in My " Male chamber" where I will harvest the pollen...and then plan on chopping him up and putting him in compost bin for next Falls soil....I have no use for the male plant other then pollen to cross with other strains..purely for my entertainment..lol..But do not keep them in shed at all..PERIOD..Im the only Male alloud in my shed thank you..

Wow old thread revived, I love it :) The purpose of my question was in regards to breeding. I was wondering if anyone used the characteristics of male smoke (flavour, smoothness, etc.) to determine a good male for breeding. To reiterate I know males don't get you high and it seems most people here are not really interested in breeding, so if you aren't this question isn't really for you :)

Thanks 4U... by the way, I found a good message on another board about the long term storage of pollen if you are interested...

I keep an eye on my males, looking at structure. That isn't the only determining factor tho...I also take a couple of tips, dry them out and run them thru the Volcano. I like to take male pollen that comes from a squat plant with a multitude of "budding sites" that is not too harsh and if you're lucky you'll find one that tastes great.

Peace...j.b.

thanks THC..thats interesting stuff..thaty persons view on long term storage is glass vial..I like it..what if we was to collect and store pollen for years..and then was able to market it like seed banks do seeds..Is Male Pollen detected by dogs? cause we could grow a mess load of Males and collect and market just the pollen..people would love it..and what if then you was wanting to grow males...who freaky...But This was just what i Have been researching..thanks THC

my buddy uses his males to throw into salads.
no THC but whateva, be resourceful with your plants. Olive and vinegar on same ganja. mmmmmmm delish

Chop em, stomp em and discard em, isnt that the way of it all

:farm: we dont need no males anyway, we can make our own seeds, eh :hubba:

:watchplant: by the time most males are culled, they are completely worthless, I mean I snip at the mere sign of a flower at [+-]10 days into flower
