Welcome to week 4 since they popped the soil. I was going to use individual scrog screens but couldn’t make them work. I installed a 2x4 stretch scrog screen instead. It will be interesting when I need to remove the watering bases from a SCROG, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Overall I’m doing a poor job of plant training so far. I topped them once and haven’t done much else. I will do my best to weave the tops into the screen for a half *** SCROG. I think I’d be better off with two plants instead of three, but this will just fill the scrog faster.
Still seeing some yellow on one set of leaves. I’m wondering if I didn’t buffer some of the coco sufficiently and I’m experiencing a magnesium issue. It could also be caused by the relatively high ph I had in the reservoirs (6.8). I added some Epsom salt and a high concentration of CalMag to the latest nutrient water and topped off. Reservoirs are at 6.0 ph and 750ppm.
I now have a dehumidifier, humidifier and heater residing outside of the tent and pumping air/moisture through hoses on the left side of the tent. I’m ready to drop the humidity when the flowering starts. Durban Poison is from hot and dry South Africa, so I will try to mimic that climate soon.

Since ya have all those plants individual screens can't happen. This net is your only real option.
Yeah more plants will fill things up faster but it's not always a productive way to go. Less is more in scrogging.

Yes, I’m not feeling good about this SCROG but I’m proceeding with this plan regardless. I think I need to raise the net up slightly and keep topping and weaving branches. I have done a poor job of bending branches to spread them out when they were smaller. I have some branch clips arriving tomorrow to help train a few branches under the net.
I primarily want to control her height since she’s a Sativa-dominant plant. If she looks anything like your Durban Poison I’d be thrilled with that outcome.

You weave the net? Won’t that make it hard to harvest?
I have not done one either and went the push under only route. Let me know how weaving it went might be best for me to sacrifice a net

I scratched my head a lot on should I intertwine and I can see benefits to both if using a stretchy net like me. I considered intertwining as the nets are only like $14. My thought was it might restrain the plant better. Looking forward to seeing it

Found that out on my second scrog. First was with four tanks, three plants each. Second was with two tanks, three plants each. Only took an extra week or two to fill the screen just as thick as the 12 did.
I use a chunk of hog pen 4'x6', 2"x4" for a screen. They don't poke their heads up 'til I want them to. Once it's filled to my liking, I quit tucking. After a couple of weeks, everything under the screen gets hacked. The buds turn into baseball bats.
Sounds like Scroggin 101.
It's hard to convince folks to use less plants. It's fine to grow multiple plants but there's methods to that and it doesn't involve a screen..lol

There are different grow styles for sure. I'm more concerned with having different strains available rather than maxing out production from each individual plant.
I realize that I would probably be better off with two plants instead of three, but I’ve come too far to put one down. I’m determined to make this SCROG work with three plants. They’re all the same strain, so harvest will be simple enough.
I checked the water reservoirs in the self feeding pots and the ph had risen to 6.4 and ppm was 780. I added ph down and some light feed to top off reservoirs. Ph is now 6.1 and ppm at 700.
Today I cleaned up growth under the net, especially the small branches that would never reach the top of the canopy. Then I spread the branches out as much as possible under the net.
I also updated the grow light by increasing the gap between the plants and the lamps to 18”. Used dimmer to adjust lighting to a DLI (Daily Light Integral) of 35 (at 18 hours of light per day) and a ppfd of 548. For anyone that uses a lux meter, that’s 34,000 lux.

Yeah scrogging will not get ya moving through seed very fast.
You kinda grow like a breeder. Multiple strains trimmed down for top bud development. It's a method just like scrogging. I totally get the variety side of it. I love variety too.
I can grow 12 strains at once if I choose to but I'm usually running 5-9. Been averaging about 8oz+ per floater so I'm getting variety and decent amounts.

I really appreciate the advice on the second Scrog net. I like it so much I may run that as the norm. It allows for a LOT more control when training the plants than a single net ever could by giving me a surface to bend against.
I am with you I like variety. I try to do at least 5 strains.

If I had more than one little tent, I'd have more options.
At least I can grow outside to get some weight. Next season, I plan more but smaller plants outside to give me variety. Those big trees are pretty, but a PITA to care for and harvest.

Have you considered scrogging outside? Is that possible?
Welcome to day 1 of week #4 of veg. This is my ugly scrog. It would have worked better had I trained the branches to spread out before installing the net. Live and Learn.
Today is just a bunch of “glamour shots” of the garden to document week #4.
The three Durban Poison look relatively healthy. There are still the remnants of what I believe was a magnesium deficiency from not buffering all of my coco adequately. I am foliar feeding with a mix of CalMag (5ml/g) and seaweed extract (30ml/g) mixed with RO water and ph’d to 6.0. My feed has been consistent with Heads Formula using GH Flora Series…..6ml Micro, 9 ml Bloom, 2-3 ml CalMag and 30ml/g of Seaweed extract.
I’ve been adjusting ph and adding nutrient solution daily. My ph creeps up by .3-.4 per day. I plan to replace the nutrient solution next week with fresh nutrients. My formula for fertilizers does not change regardless of veg or flower…..Heads Formula stays consistent.
I see KGB using a second scrog net and I’m thinking that will be beneficial here too. Second net ordered. I’m probably going to raise this net slightly before installing a second net.
LED is 18” above the plant tops and dimmed to provide a Daily Light Integral of 35. I purchased some branch clips to bend them 90 degrees but not finding many uses for the clips.
I’ve been really focused on improving the grow conditions in the tent. I added a controller, hooked up the external humidifier, added a heater and now added a special dehumidifier designed to work from outside the tent. I don’t have any tent floor space (small 2x4) free to use for equipment, so I’m only buying equipment that pump air into the tent through hoses. Just added this Spider Farmer dehumidifier and need to figure out how to automate it. I’m trying to get ready for flower when I struggle with humidity. I’m also hoping to be able to run a grow in summer months when humidity is more difficult to manage.

With my basement my absolute best time to grow is now
I was able to adjust the net and get the plant on the far right spread out under the net finally. I just needed a little more branch length to reach to far holes in the scrog net. I am planning two more weeks of veg before I flip to flower. I don’t want to grow plants that are too large for the 3 gallon containers.
