preparing to begin.. would like some answers...

Cali and Oregon resident transplanted to phoenix, az for now and am preparing a spare closet room for growing.. im only looking at doing 2 plants to start, is an hps 150w going to be enough or need it be more? the closet space is about 2' feet, 4' long and 8' to the ceiling with a clotes rack at the 6' mark.. Also, where does anyone suggest getting seeds? Is it worthe the extra $$ for feminized seeds or not? A little paranoid about that process so some tips or feedback would be very helpful.. thanks so much and hope to have updates soon..

welcome to mp. lots of great people here willing to help whenever they can.

as for your grow area, 2x4= 8sqft 5000 lumens per sqft thats 40000 lumens needed to light that area. 150 watt hps 15000 lumens each. so i'd say at least 2 150watt but 3 would be great. if your looking for cheap lights i can post a link to 20$ 150watt hps. several members here have bought them including me. they work great.

as for seeds i would stay away from fem seeds. they can produce herimes and its not worth the extra money you pay for them. jmo

take alook in the seed bank section here for reviews on several seedbanks that members here use will good results.. good luck and enjoy the site

Well, I would either get another light or 2 as Slowmo suggested or make my space smaller. I got a decent yield with 300W in a 2 x 2 space. You will need to do something to make the space absolutely light tight when you get to the flowering stage, so give that some thought now. Most closet doors let in a lot of light.

I am also not a fan of feminized seeds.

Whats a good watering guideline? Is it wait until a fingers depth feels dry? Or more on a routine? I know that most good soils will have enough nutrients until week 3 or so.. And then begin to add nutrients or grow additives such as miracle grow? Any ideas to cut my closet space in half so my grow area shrinks?
