ya i just bought a hanna ph meter from htg supply. he said it was the nicest meter you could buy for under 100 bucks so we'll see

howdy Kushblower, nice mix/set-up. I get a little twist with clones in the early stages...even same clones in same area some twist while the rest dont. i've heard heat,light,high hum, and general stress can cause it. I just wait it out now. the only nutes i've used are FF and GH and i got no complaints on either. Lookin great man...oh, i've learned to dip all club clones whether i see bug signs or not good luck

I think that this is mainly from the amount of light that the buds receive. I recently upgraded from a 400 watt unit to a 600 and have noticed that the buds are bigger and harder than before...hope this is right...if not someone with more knowledge will surely help us out...

Yeah lyfr is right on the twisting, by Dutch Passion Blueberry twisted when they were cloned and are in optimum conditions.

And the more intense the light the denser the buds and the higher the yield.

IME density does appear to be strain related..however, i've noticed the following can maximize it; hps/watts, choice of nutes..pure vs that cheap goupy stuff(any of it), "Gravity bud hardener" increased density noticably, and of course a strong root system will make bud better in every way! that's my 2 cents now i'm gonna have to borrow 2 more...assuming ph/temps/air are all fine because they will all affect quality/density IMO

density differs from strain to strain "but" 2 guys growing same strain 1 guys buds could be really dense while the other dudes **** is suffering bad and not filling out... it really helps to have your whole grow dialed in the best it can be..nutes,ph,ppm,water,air,vents,temps,lights,watts etc.

you go grow some dirt mexi seed and ill grow some blockhead and lets see who has the densest nuggz..lol but the high would be so differant from eachother as well so..all in all dense or airy nuggs dont matter..... Its the overall High more than Yeild for me. rAmbling

Thanks for the comments. I have a 600 watt hps with a solarmax bulb(95,000 lumens) in a 3.5x4 closet. That gives me 6785 lumens/sq foot. This time though Im going to try and use both the 600 and 400 hps during my flower. With these sweet strains and the increased lighting, this should be a good grow.

As soon as my potential mothers are ready, Im going to start cloning. Im pretty sure Im going with 1 WW, 1 PK, 1 Hindu Skunk(Pot of Gold), and either 1 bubblegum or 1 AK47. Any suggestions? I cant choose! Ive chosen clonex rooting gel and clone solution along with GH's Rapid Rooter tree bark plugs. Do you guys think a 150 watt flouro would be enough lighting for my mothers? Thanks alot for the help!

I went ahead and started my first training with a few of the plants. Im supercropping first, then once theyre healed, Im going to tie them down. Im looking to increase my yield this time by purchasing a few more different types of nutes, hopefully adding the 400 watt, and also use Lst. Any suggestions would be help.

I also clipped some clones yesterday. A couple are dragging but I think theyll be just fine. Theyre small I know, but Ive seen even smaller and still root. Plus, I really want to get these girls going so I cant pack this closet. Im going to step up to a few more plants on this grow

i also bought a hanna meter like that.the first day i got it,i dropped it on the floor.i've checked and re-check the calibration and it seems to be ok.that was dumb as heck,huh/lol

no its cool. but to add to that, Ive been having problems with my hanna. Even with 7.0 solution, its reading 8.4 or so and I cant screw the cal knob anymore. So now I have to just subtract 1.4 when phing my nutes. Its a pain but money has been tight since school started back up so I cant get another one yet.

Looking great KB12. I would clone some of each that way you have a variety to choose from. :hubba: Yes your 150 watt light should be enough to keep your moms alive and growing. We use a couple of 65 watters on ours and they work great. What type of nutes do you have at the moment?

Thanks alot guys. I was wondering if that 150 would be enough. I was thinking about using my 400 watt conversion lamp in mh for the mothers but I would rather utilize the hps for flowering. So Ill have 1000 watts total. Hey TBG, right now Im using FF Grow Big, FF Big Bloom, Seaweed extract, Botanicare Sweet, and superthrive. Yesterday I flushed my girls with clearex, and already they are looking better than ever. Because of the supercrop, they are still hunched over, but most of the flowerheads have popped up toward the light and the new growth is lookin so good.

Oh and Im still having a hard time deciding whether to mother bubblegum, AK47, or Shiva Skunk. Any suggestions?

haha i would say clone the most expensive strain so u dont have to waste $ on seeds but its up to you

Ok so a few updates... First I transplanted all my girls into 12 square pots - some uniformity and saves me space! All but one have bounced back from that. The strawberry cough/chocolate chunck is sick and just isnt showing any growth. oh well. Along with the transplant, I added FF soil with a little bit of added blood meal for nitrogen. So for right now, once again Im taking it easy on the nutes. Distilled water, H2o2, 1/4 big bloom, sweet, and some stress recovery nute called Stay Green. Im also experimenting with training this time. Ive been bending branches, causing the stems tp get thicker which they have. Two days ago I also tied down one AK and one WW. I also topped a few of the others. I figure I need to experiment - in the end it will make me a better grower. Also if you noticed, my light in the bigger closet is a hps. Yes Im still in veg, but unfortunately my mh bulbs kept blowing out so I had to send my lamp back. The good people at htgsupply are upgrading my lamp at no additional cost. But I will continue to veg for a few weeks longer I think.

How long should I continue to veg if I just tied the plants down?

I also took my very first clones. It was alot easier than I expected, and with a 100% success rate so far. I have a total of 24 and about half have already started showing roots. Here comes some more...

I brought my lights to 12/12 yesterday. I also posted a pic in the sick plants section, but Ive been having some yellowing. Especially with one of my purple kush. I might just give them water today and hold off on the bloom nutes for a couple days.

I also took a few more clones, which I really like doing now. Its so easy. I got these roots after just 4 days.
