I have a question. How many plants can fit comfortably under two 400 watt mh lights while flowering? My room is 5x7x8 I can make it longer if needed. Thanks in advance.

You need 5000 lumens psf of grow area. 5x7=35x5000=175,000 lumens

9 or 10.

9 if you 3x3
10 if you go 3|4|3

assuming standard 3gal pots.

Question for all who are willing to answer.
I wnatede to know what's the best light to use i have a buddy of mine who uses Cfl's and has a pretty good crop and i wanted to know is there a huge dif in the growing process and if HID's and HL's are the only light u should use
Thank u for n e helpful info u can spare

Look. if you have $130 to buy a 400w HPS, do it, there is no comparison. You can grow with cfl, but if you plan on having any number of plants you will end up spending more on the sheer number of cfl plugs and bulbs. the cfl's have to be within 1" of the plants. you also must hang them into the canopy to light the sides of the plant as the light is weak and has poor penetration strength.

You can figure it this way. you need about 5000lumens/FTsq for dank oozing buds. That formula does't take into account how the light falls off as it is angled to the outer edge of the plants.

There is generally a big difference in yield between a plant that is flowered with HPS and one flowered with CFLs. There is not that much difference (IMO) between vegging with CFLs and MHs. I don't know what HLs are.
