I have been looking all night and can't seem to find a thread that would cover the 1/2 inch larve i found in my hydro systen tonight. I have had 4 very good crops with my little system but I freaked out when I saw the wormy things. I lifted all the 8 plants out and showered them till I removed every visible larve by hand with a magnifier. Then I cleaned everything and just put in water.
I still have a mother in a seperate area I would like to save if possible.
1 what are these
2 how do I kill them but not the plants
3 why now?
4 what product can I use on them
5 prevention?

thanks in advance bt

HI Blkthumb....

Welcome to MP! I'm sure someone will come along before long with expertise in hydro. I grew in hydro many years ago and I remember having larvae in my reservoir a couple times and I can't remember what they sold me at the hydro store to deal with it so it must have worked! I'm sure there's something that will deal with your larvae issue but you sure could take clones from your plant and keep the genetics around NO problem.... The larvae is a root zone problem so a clone won't be affected I woudn't think....

you might try posting this over in the hydro section...

Happy Growing!

need a pic, but if they're 1/2 inch long they're gonna be something of descent size in the next phase of their lifecycle.

You could drench the mother both foliar and medium with an all purpose like neem oil or a pyrethrin based insecticide.

Any meat eating ants in your neighbourhood?
