My brother ran out and bought one, a S&W model 29. Not sure if he's still got it, but I took it home to play with for awhile. I loaded up five chambers with 44SPL and one with 44Mag. Handed to the Old Hen. She never noticed the difference. That gal was a natural shot. It took me months of steady practice to get as good as I was. She was as good as me the first time she ever shot a handgun.
Started on a ruger single action 44 with hand loads wasn't any talking me down from there on out.
I like shooting pistols way more than long guns.
More challenging and more fun without so much maffs.

My wife is indifferent to guns, but I made sure early on that she could shoot if necessary. I got her an edc that she won't carry. I honestly think she'd be horrified to have to use it on a sub-human that would be likely to attack her or her friends.
I have no such qualms, personally.
I told her that if she ever decides to "off" me, I want to know she can shoot well enough to do so, and not leave me in a stinkin' hospital bed for the remainder of my miserable existence. lol

I paid 300 new and he paid 300 250 rounds run and 5 boxes reloads. (I made custom) Now the gun goes for 1200.00

Got a cheap old Winchester 12ga pump with a mag tube as long as the barrel. It sets in the corner while the Hardballer sleeps next to my head. Got a fire extinguisher in the kitchen, too. Hope I never need to use any of them.
