I picked up the tools in '75 and put 'em down in '06, and I've got the bad back to prove it.I made my money coating the red iron waaay up in the air...one job had me rent 6 80' boom lifts for months...the bill was astronomical but so was the price tag for the job...I stopped as an applicator back in 1981, found my silver tongue could make me more money than my bad back...best move I ever made was putting down the tools...
Had a cub that froze up on the red iron. Finally got him pealed off the vertical beam he had a death grip on and got him down to ground level. I found a 16' scaffold plank and made him walk it. He did it just fine. I told him that the only difference between the plank at ground level and the I beam he froze on was that if he screwed up, he'd have a couple of seconds to figure out what he did wrong on the way down.
