I had a client who was charged with Felon in possession of a firearm. The weapon was a black powder revolver.
Nobody went to jail that day.

What defense did you use, or was the blk gun never in that law?

we are in the migration flight path of the Sandhill cranes….they have a big resort for them up in Nebraska

they have a unique quack which we hav come to recognize over the years and when we hear them we run outside and look up…

You can get "some " cutlets from Sandhill cranes ,forget hummingbirds completely.
You need 600 of them for a meal.

oh they busted him, just it didnt qualify as a firearm under that law. This was in the 90's, heaven knows if that would still hold water. I also wonder about CCR firearms.....

Felon in possession deals with Federal law. Before constitutional carry, I had lots of guys charged with ccw, carrying a concealed firearm. Once in a while, their list of charges would not contain CCW.....I wouldask are you a convicted felon? If answer was yes, I knew why not charged....yet. Fed system has extremely little good time. Sentence for Felon in possession was 5 years at the time. Bad news!

It didnt count as a firearm under the Law. I havent looked at it in ages, now we have Constitutional carry. I still keep the carry permit, its good in many other states and I many times fly with firearms and ammo. Talk about sweating bullets!

Hence I had to become like "The Fugitive" on tv till I found out driving with a suspended license wasnt the end of the world and only a $75 fine

Problem is you will still be arrested and go through the system to prove beyond doubt you were justified in the shooting.
