I have a 2 tent auto grow going right now in my basement. I had thought about adding another tent to my grow but then decided that I didn't need a 3rd tent. I already grow more than I can smoke. But I have been wanting to do a scrog grow for years. I have also been wanting to grow a photo indoors from start to finish. So I'm doing it.

I am ordering a 36" x 20" x 63" grow tent. I will place 1 earthbox in this tent and plant 1 photo plant in it. I will run a screen for a scrog. And I will run it in my bedroom closet. I ordered a viparspetra P2000 to use as my light. More details to come.

Ok so I ordered some seeds special for my first indoor, seed to harvest, photoperiod, scrog grow. And the strain i have decided on is... Barney's Farm Banana Punch. I haven't had a "Banana" strain i didn't like, so I'm hoping that stays true for this grow. This setup may end up taking the place of an outdoor summer grow. I will start this grow ASAP. Just have to wait for the seeds. And light, and tent.

Welcome fellow earthbox grower!

I've been using earthboxes in my veggie garden for a couple of years now. I love them for my pepper plants and tomatoes. I wasn't a huge fan of using them for squash... it worked but I think they are better in the ground.

Nice choice in strain and method. I rarely grow without a screen so your mention of a scrog has my attention. Good luck

I am going to be using organic ammendments. I have mixed about a 50/50 mix of the fox farms ocean Forest and coco loco that I already had to use as my soil. I also added some rock dust, palletized gypsum, a tiny bit of langbeinite, and about 1 1/2 cups of down to earth all purpose fertilizer blend. If I need them, I have more compost and earthworm castings, and liquid organic fertilizer to get me through to harvest.

I will be using recharge about 1 time per week until flower.

Back in 2010 I was on the rollitup forum and came mascots a guy in Alaska that had a scrog forum. His scrogs looked amazing! Just a screen of perfect, uniform sized top buds. Like a carpet of buds... ever since then i have wanted to give it a try and now I'm going to do it. I hope it works out for me... if it does, I'll be able to grow year round indoors, even if it is just 1 plant in the summer with a screen.

Ya got experience growing for sure so a scrog should be a walk in the park for you.

Just remember things don't have to be perfect. I use framed screens and floater screens for scrogs. Floaters keep me mobile and are a good choice with multiple plants but your doing a single so a frame is good.

Ya can run a deep canopy or a carpet of buds with them. It's all in the timing and training.

2x3 footprint should yield you a nice harvest of 8+ oz easy.

Check my rerun thread for screen examples. There are many.

Thanks man, I will probably build out of pvc, and string. I'd just buy a scrog net from vivosun but I don't think they make 1 for a 36x20.

My biggest questions are when to flip to 12-12... when the screen is 50% full, 75% full... I know this will be strain or individual plant dependent.. I will probably flip when the screen is about 65% full and continue to train to fill in the tent for another week or week and a half. This is my plan anyways. I don't want to waste space and flip too soon, but I also don't want to be way overgrown... this 1 grow could change the way I grow every year. I could end up running 3 tents. 2 photo scrog tents and 1 autoflower tent. I would probably run 3-4 autos in my bigger tent... or, I could run 2 photo scrogs in the big tent and 2 or 3 autos in the 2x4.

I do think autos are worth growing, and I don't think they can be very good smoke. But I will admit that they have their downfalls too. For example, I grew 2 strawberry nuggets, 2 sour stoppers, 1 northern cheese haze and a 4 asked monkey 1 grow. These are all mephisto strains. The northern cheese haze, 4 assed monkey, and 1 of the sour stoppers were pretty good smoke. 1 of the sour stoppers was ok, and the 2 strawberry nuggets tasted ok but weren't very good smoke. And autos make it so easy to do a variety of strains. But I've been wanting to try photos Indoors for a while.

Timing is the ticket with scrogs. So many wait to long to flip and get overgrown big-time.

Clones work best in scrogs because ya already have a good idea of what size and growth speed your gonna get. With seed it's a little different.

With my floater screens I don't have to veg into the screen. I can veg normally and when time comes to flower I can throw one on. Train it under for 10-14 days and turn it loose. No tricky timing involved.

As ya know a plant flipped to flower stretches and that happens in a very short period of time. From day 10 it will start and by day 28 or so it will stop.... usually unless it's a behemoth sativa haze girl..lol. So placing a screen on top and training them under for the first 10-12 days sets them up pretty good to finish.

If you want a carpet of buds train them under for 14-20days and then release them. For a deeper canopy stick around ten days.

No doubt once you master this method you'll be hooked. I learned to grow with screens from the beginning and well, that kinda has stick to me today..lol.

If ya need any help I'll be glad to do so. With your experience ya should fly right through it.

Humbolt chicken n waffles, doughnuts, and blueberry pancakes are all calling for me to try growing them.
Your like a young bull in a herd of heifers. Your gonna fuck em all..lol
Well at the tender age of 45 I don't know if I'd say I'm a young bull... and after my divorce last year I don't see myself doing that again, but yeah, I have a problem. I want to try them all... but if I could find 2 or 3 I really liked, I'd just grow them and then grow my autos for variety. I will no doubt be posting progress pics and will do a grow journal so it would be easy for you to help me out with a little knowledge, experience and guidance, and it would be greatly appreciated. When all of my gear arrives and I am all set up, I will let you know when I start my grow journal. I get excited for every 1 of my grows, but this grow and setup has me on pins and needles with excitement.
