How much light do I need?

Hey, I'll be setting up some grow rooms in my attic in a few weeks and I have a few questions. I'll be picking up some clones from a friend (app.15-20) and will set these up in my veg room. I plan on making the veg room 4 feet by 4 feet floor space and 6 feet tall. All the walls will be covered with reflective material and 4, 48 inch flourescent bulbs will be hung in there with 1 circulating fan. For the flowering room, I plan on making it 6 feet by 6 feet floor space with 1 400HPS in the middle of the room and 7 feet high. This room will be sucking in air from the house (not the attic) and blowing it out into the attic. All the plants will be in soil and will be watered daily by me. Do you think the 1 400HPS in the flowering room will be enough? Any suggestions on equipment or anything that might help me produce some descent weed?

when you say distribution, i assume you mean that you want to share with your friends, as this site does not allow conversations about the sale of marijuana, as for your question, i would go with at least a 600w for that space, or even 1000 w if you have adequate ventalation

I smoke abit will mainly be doing this for distribution.

Use 2 400 lights.....May i add that is a LOT of plants for that small of a space... I would notveg them very long at all...... You will get overgrown really fast if you do....

You are grossly underlit. A vegging space that is 4 x 4 should probably have 2-3 times the light you are planning. A flowering space that is 36 sq ft should have about 1600W HPS.

Your ventilation is also inadequate. You will need far more in both rooms to keep your space cool and to supply your plants with enough CO2--an attic gets very cold in winter and very hot in the summer.

By distribution I meant shareing with a couple good friends. How many plants do you growers think would be good to have in my size of flowering room? I can get a 1000w HPS and get more air movement aswell.

You can really put as many or as few plants as you want (within reason) depending on how you want to grow. You may want to keep in mind that many places have far stiffer penalties for larger numbers of plants. You wil alsol need more than just more air movement, you are going to need cooling.

I found a good price locally on the 1000W HPS bulb, ballest and reflector kit. I plan to use this in my flowering room but need to know how big I should build the room? Also the guy at the hudroponics store said that once the air in the grow room passes through the carbon filter there will be no odor what so ever, is this carbon filter 100% effective?

A 1000W HPS will light about 20m sq ft--so that is the size I would make my room if that is the light you are going to use. The carbon filter will take the odor out of the air that passes through it. In other words, there will be no smell with the air exhausted. But if your room/box/whatever is not sealed, the smell certainly can escape.

id say you'd be good with a 1000w hps. also, u say you will be watering daily. make sure you do not overwater. mj likes to be watered and let to dry for a few days. overwatering is a serious problem that many new growers have. more water most times does not mean better plants. just somethin to keep in mind. good luck sounds good
