Hello everyone – Conrad here…I’m just a first time home indoor grower in need of some advice. I can’t seem to get plants to flower. I started them with seeds (purchased online) in an Aerogarden (hydroponics). I have a couple of plants, which I transplanted and am still growing under lights, but they only produce leaves – no flowers. What am I doing wrong? It’s been a couple of months since they sprouted from seeds. Thanks for any help…

howdy conrad, and welcome. r u giving em 12 hours dark period, what kinda lights? seed? pics?

Welcome to MP. Give us some information on what you been doing and i'm sure we will find an answer for ya. ;)

Thanks all for the warm welcome. Seriously, I have no idea what I'm doing and am feeling my way though the growing process.

I started the seeds in my AeroGarden on the herb cycle which I believe is 8 hours off and 16 hours on. I then transplanted them to potting soil in clay pots. I now have them set up under lights in a closet for the same 8/16 cycle. From what you wrote, this may be my problem. Should I switch this to 12/12 once they've been transplanted? Are they getting too much light to flower? I don't have pics, but they are presently about 1 ft. tall. I have two plants but have new sprouts working in the AeroGarden, which is still on the 8 hrs. off/ 16 hrs. on light cycle. I don't think I can change that feature on my machine, but shouldn't that work for germination? Also, should you smoke the leaves of a male plant? (see how little I know about what I'm doing?) Thanks again for all your help and advice...I really appreciate it.

i have a degree in plant biology, so listen: if you do not put it on 12/12, it will not flower, period. The plants are ready to flower when the leaves are no longer opposite each other on the stem, but alternate up the stem. Or, just flower them when they get to a certain height that you determine by the height of your grow area, just know that they will stretch and grow some more while they are flowering. After 2 weeks of 12/12 you will definitely be noticing some bud action.

hey man... welcome...

one more thing... your dark period HAS TO BE COMPLETELY DARK... any light during that 12 off period will mess up your flowering.

At your advice, I've put them on a 12/12 light cycle and they are completely dark during the dark cycle....thanks, I'll keep you posted on bud action when it comes...you guys are a great help - thanks again.

Conrad- hopefully you transplanted your plants before you switched to 12/12- Once you start the flower cycle, you need to keep stress to a minimum.
Welcome aboard, btw, and good luck!
